Apple•Published 1 days ago•First seen 1 days ago

Summary

We are looking for an experienced and outcome-driven Embedded Quality Engineer to help deliver a best-in-class camera solution for iOS products. You will qualify ISP firmware and camera drivers across every hardware platform we ship, ensuring millions of Apple customers get a camera experience that just works — through every new sensor, every new feature, and every commit that touches the stack. This is a fast-paced, high-performing team, and the work spans new hardware bring-up, new feature enablement, and continuous regression testing on every ISP code change.

Description

In this role, you will:

Own regression testing for every ISP code change across multiple projects and active trains — discover regressions, triage failures, and catch issues before they land in the main codebase.
Drive parity feature validation on new hardware platforms — independently own re-validation of existing camera/ISP features against new sensors, proving nothing regressed.
Design test plans and test cases for new camera/ISP features — functionality, performance, power, stability, and image quality, and validate them end-to-end as they’re enabled, in parallel with development.
Build and maintain automated tests so test coverage keeps pace as hardware and feature count grow.
Collaborate with development and cross-functional QA teams to triage, diagnose, and debug issues to root cause; file high-quality, reproducible radars.
Identify coverage gaps and flag risks and trends to leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
  • 3+ years of QA experience testing embedded system products.
  • Proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language.
  • Experience developing system and feature level test plans and test cases.
  • Experience developing automated tests for embedded systems or mobile devices.
  • Hands-on experience leveraging AI-based tools to build and automate workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of camera technologies, the ISP pipeline, 3A, video formats, and color space.
  • Experience with quality test gating in a large, multi-repo embedded codebase.
  • Experience designing, developing, or maintaining test suites using Pytest or other framework.
  • Experience setting up, integrating, or maintaining continuous integration and deployment pipelines using tools such as Jenkins.
  • Comfort working across many concurrent trains/hardware platforms at once.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, especially triaging with dev teams.
  • Experience on successful, large-volume consumer products.
