Embedded Product Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for AMD Embedded products, platforms, software, and tools. The role acts as the primary technical interface between customers, field teams, and engineering organizations to resolve customer issues, improve product quality, and drive customer success.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive customer technical support cases from initial investigation through resolution.
- Debug complex hardware, software, firmware, and system-level issues.
- Reproduce customer issues in lab environments and perform root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve product defects and technical escalations.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance to customers.
- Develop expertise in assigned AMD products, platforms, and technologies.
- Analyze logs, traces, schematics, software outputs, and hardware behavior to diagnose issues.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides.
- Contribute to product supportability by identifying documentation gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Participate in new product readiness, validation, and support enablement activities.
- Develop automation tools, scripts, and AI-assisted debug solutions to improve support efficiency.
- Work effectively with global teams across engineering, product management, field sales, and marketing organizations.
- Deliver high-quality customer experiences while meeting support and responsiveness targets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 3–6 years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong debugging and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Experience with embedded systems, hardware design, software development, AMD Ryzen or Epyc technologies, or technical support.
- Understanding of computer architecture, digital design, embedded platforms, or operating systems.
- Ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a global, cross-functional environment.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong ownership and accountability.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Understanding of AMD Embedded series of APU or CPU architecture.
- Board bring-up, firmware, BIOS, BSP, or device driver development.
- High-speed interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, USB, MIPI, DisplayPort, Video, RF, or Networking.
- Hardware debug using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and laboratory equipment.
- C, C++, Python, Shell, PowerShell, or automation scripting.
- System validation, performance analysis, and debug methodologies.
- Customer-facing technical support or applications engineering.
- AI-assisted debugging, automation, and knowledge management tools.
- Experience using defect tracking, CRM, or case management systems
