In this internship, as a display SQE intern, you will learn and collaborate with senior engineers to drive technical direction and deliver scalable, high-quality display solutions for award-winning Apple products.

Description

In this internship role, you will assist in quality system and tool development across New Product Introduction (NPI) and supplier execution phases. You will participate in evaluating new product designs and process specifications to ensure process capability, alignment with yield targets, and seamless scalability to mass production. Working alongside cross-functional engineering teams and key suppliers, you will contribute to failure analysis,corrective action implementation, and yield bridge strategies. Additionally, you will support reviews of supplier quality control plans, reliability testing,and in-process controls to prevent system interaction issues. You will collaborate with supplier technical teams to track Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters, evaluate production readiness, and monitor yield loss across manufacturing nodes during production ramp.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in driving overall quality system and quality control tool development to deliver
  • scalable products from development through mass production.
  • Participate in identifying technical challenges and reviewing new product designs, process configurations, and specifications to ensure scalability and alignment with process capability and yield targets.
  • Prepare timely, concise reports and presentations for product yield performance, failure analysis (FA), and specification convergence status.
  • Support Failure Analysis (FA), Corrective Action implementation plans, and yield bridging to mass production and future projects.
  • Review supplier quality control flows, in-process quality control systems, component and product quality control plans, and reliability testing, aligning with system test plans to prevent interaction issues.
  • Collaborate with supplier process and quality teams to map out process development exercises, track Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters, secure FA resources, and improve yields in line with program goals.
  • Support technical direction provided to suppliers to establish and validate process capabilities and conduct risk assessments.
  • Assist in assessing supplier production readiness for build events and production ramps, identifying potential execution issues and suggesting mitigation options.
  • Monitor supplier process performance and yield loss across process nodes periodically to prevent quality issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an MS or PhD program (or advanced BS) in Engineering,Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Academic or internship background with exposure to manufacturing, engineering, or operations principles.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, programming languages (Python, R, or SQL), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Foundational coursework or knowledge of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning and Data Science concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic research or coursework in display technologies, such as LCD, OLED, micro OLED, or micro LED front-end or back-end processes.
  • Hands-on project, lab, or internship experience in development, process engineering, testing, or quality background within display, semiconductor, or electronics domains.
  • Demonstrated capability or coursework to plan DOEs, analyze in-process data, perform failure analysis (across EE, Optical, Mechanical, or Panel domains), and identify yield/quality improvement pathways.
  • Interest in researching and certifying new materials, and learning/developing quality tools and testing methods.
  • Self-starter mindset and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as required by program needs.
