Display Module Engineer
Summary
Are you passionate about innovative display technology and precision engineering? Apple’s Mac Display Engineering team is seeking a talented and driven Display Engineer to lead the development of cutting-edge flat panel displays from initial concept through mass production. In this role, you will serve as a key technical interface between system design, display electrical and optical engineering, mechanical engineering, and global supply partners. You will own the end-to-end development of display modules—driving design, validation, and integration to ensure industry-leading visual experiences for millions of users. Join us and help shape the future of how people interact with Mac products through world-class display technology.
Description
As a Display Engineer on the Mac team, you will play a key role in defining and developing next-generation display technologies. You will collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, —including optical, electrical, mechanical, process, and panel design engineers—as well as serve as the primary technical contact with external display suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Defining and reviewing the overall display module specifications, architecture, and performance requirements, particularly for OLED and advanced panel technologies
- Own and execute meticulous validation plans, perform hands-on optical and electrical performance characterization, and conduct data analysis to ensure our displays meet Apple’s world-class quality standards
- Work closely with system engineering teams to validate display modules at the system level, investigate and resolve display-related issues from engineering builds through mass production, and drive failure analysis efforts across vendor and internal teams
- Contribute innovative solutions to elevate front-of-screen performance and user experience
- International travel is required to support development and ramp at supplier sites
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: display technology development, optical system design, semiconductor optoelectronics, or optical sensor technologies
- Experience in data analysis and scripting tools such as Python, MATLAB, JMP, or LabVIEW
Preferred Qualifications
- MS, or PhD in EE, Optics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field
- Proven track record in OLED panel architecture, TFT and driving circuit design, and display process development in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Experience in display performance characterization and validation, including use of bench-top and industry-standard optical measurement systems
- Experience with optical simulation tools (e.g., LightTools, Zemax or equivalent)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
