Position Summary

The Strategic Partnerships Group is seeking a Director to support New Business Development and Strategy for Samsung’s cross-platform service business. This role will be responsible for identifying and executing strategic partnerships that drive revenue, enable new products and services, and enhance the experience across Samsung’s device ecosystem. The candidate should have the ability to quickly develop expertise and a point of view on new industries, technologies and partnership opportunities, and advocate for, and build consensus around, their recommendations among executives and other key stakeholders.

The candidate should be equally comfortable negotiating contracts and collaborating on product strategy, and should have experience leading complex, high-impact projects with cross-functional teams. The candidate should have experience working at the cross-section of advertising, gaming, tech and media and possess a strong understanding of the TV landscape, including the key services, distribution channels and business models.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, as well as a strong analytical bent and the ability to navigate and embrace complexity.

  • Negotiate Partnership Agreements: Lead complex negotiations with major game developers, digital media companies, art galleries, data providers and other copyright holders to secure favorable terms.
  • Internal Leadership & Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Marketing, Ops), both domestically and abroad, acting as point on all aspects of the partnership strategy and execution.
  • Originate New Businesses: Evaluate new opportunities, provide strategic direction, and secure buy-in from internal and external executives

Skills and Qualifications

  • 12+ years of overall experience with Bachelor Degree, MBA or JD preferred
  • 8+ years of deal-making experience in entertainment, media, and/or technology
  • Excellent negotiation skills and extensive experience negotiating and redlining non-standard, multifaceted contracts
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property rights and media distribution models
  • Experience assisting Product and Engineering teams on both sides of the negotiation to identify workable solutions, which are then reflected in the contract
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance creative vision and commercial objectives
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation and analytical skills required
  • Experience communicating with and presenting to C-level leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and defend opinions regarding market and competitive direction along with associated impact on company strategy
  • Self-motivated with ability to work in an unstructured environment. Candidates will have a strong operational mindset with a decisive get it done and whatever it takes mentality

Compensation for this role, for candidates based in New York City, NY is expected to be between $220,000 to $250,000.  Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
