About KYC Africa
KYC Africa, formerly DocFox, joined nCino in 2024. It's a standalone compliance platform that helps accountable institutions across South Africa onboard clients and meet their FICA obligations, from identity verification to financial crime screening. It's a focused local business with the backing of a global banking software company.
The Opportunity
We're appointing the platform's first dedicated local leader: a Director, Product & Technology who owns what the product becomes, how it's built and how it goes to market. Until now, KYC Africa's product and technology have been overseen by leaders who also carried other platforms. This role changes that.
You set the product vision and technology direction as one plan and lead the team that delivers it. Reporting to our Director Product Solutions – Africa, you lead a Product Manager and an Engineering Manager, with 14 engineers behind them. You also sit on the KYC Africa leadership team alongside our commercial and operations leads.
You'll spend time with customers and in the market, bringing the South African view into every product decision. It's real ownership, with a global network to learn from and grow with.
What You'll Do
- Own the product vision, roadmap and prioritisation, balancing regulatory obligation, customer demand, platform health and cost
- Lead go-to-market end to end, partnering with sales, operations and marketing on segmentation, positioning, pricing and packaging
- Run market and customer discovery to understand where clients' compliance obligations are heading, and track adoption, retention and customer confidence
- Define the technology direction in line with nCino's platform and AI direction, and make clear, evidence-based product and engineering decisions
- Lead and grow the team through your managers, setting the bar for delivery quality, hiring, career paths and succession
- Make sure the platform meets its regulatory, data protection and security obligations and stands up to customer and audit scrutiny
- Apply responsible AI practices wherever AI supports compliance decisions, including explainability and human oversight
- Engage directly with customers on strategic accounts, escalations and regulatory conversations
- Represent KYC Africa across nCino's product and engineering community, and communicate strategy, progress and risk clearly to leadership
Who You'll Work With
You'll work closely with the KYC Africa leadership team across sales, operations and finance. You'll also partner with risk and compliance, marketing, strategic operations and HR, and connect with nCino's wider product and technology leaders.
What You'll Bring
- A proven record of taking products to market with sales, marketing and operations
- Deep product craft: segmentation, positioning and solutioning, owning outcomes, not just delivery
- Extensive experience in software organisations, including leading teams and managing managers
- Experience owning both product and engineering, including technology strategy
- A background in regulated financial services, RegTech or another regulated software domain
- Strong judgement and the confidence to make consequential calls and bring others with you
It's a bonus if you bring experience running cloud-native SaaS at scale (including security and external audit cycles), big data or data management experience, a product management certification, exposure to KYC/AML or FICA, familiarity with familiarity with Ruby, Vue (or similar technology stacks), experience integrating an acquired product, or a network in South African fintech. New to KYC? We'll help you learn the domain.
