Director, Product Management, Partner Search

A Little About Us

Yahoo Search helps millions of people find information, answers, products, services, and inspiration across the web. In addition to our owned and operated Search experiences, Yahoo powers Search for a broad ecosystem of third-party distribution partners across browsers, software, APIs, and other consumer and B2B experiences.

The Partner Search team is responsible for growing and evolving that ecosystem. We build products and platform capabilities that help partners deliver high-quality Search experiences, grow user engagement and lifetime value, improve monetization, and scale their businesses with Yahoo. The team works at the intersection of consumer Search, partner platforms, APIs, monetization, traffic quality, data, and business development.

About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Product Management, Partner Search to lead product strategy and execution for Yahoo’s third-party Search business.

This is a hands-on product leadership role that combines individual product ownership with people management. You will manage a small team of Product Managers while also directly owning a meaningful product area. Together, the team will be responsible for growing partner traffic and revenue, improving retention and lifetime value, increasing monetization, and making Yahoo’s partner Search platform more scalable and differentiated.

You will define product strategy across partner experiences, Search distribution, APIs, data and reporting, monetization, and platform capabilities. You will also identify and develop new B2B products and distribution opportunities that expand how partners can work with Yahoo.

The role requires strong commercial judgment, technical fluency, and comfort working directly with external partners. You will partner closely with Business Development and Partner Management, while serving as the senior Product counterpart in partner discussions, shaping joint product opportunities, diagnosing performance issues, and translating partner needs into scalable Yahoo products.

We are looking for someone who can operate like a product GM for the partner Search portfolio: setting direction, developing new ideas, driving measurable growth, coaching PMs, and personally getting into the details of product, data, APIs, traffic quality, monetization, and partner performance.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and performance of Yahoo’s Partner Search portfolio, with accountability for partner traffic, revenue, retention, lifetime value, monetization, and platform scalability.
  • Lead and develop a small team of Product Managers while personally owning a meaningful product area and remaining deeply engaged in product discovery, prioritization, execution, and performance.
  • Develop a deep understanding of distribution partners, their users, business models, traffic sources, and economics, using partner feedback, product data, market context, and performance trends to identify the highest-value opportunities.
  • Define product strategy for third-party Search experiences, balancing partner needs, end-user value, platform scalability, traffic quality, and Yahoo business objectives.
  • Improve partner configurability and flexibility across Search experiences, features, branding, data, APIs, and integrations, while avoiding excessive operational or technical complexity.
  • Drive initiatives that improve user retention, engagement, search volume, and lifetime value across distributed traffic, identifying and testing the product levers that strengthen repeat usage and partner economics.
  • Optimize monetization across partner experiences through new features, Search experience improvements, traffic and query optimization, and other product levers that improve revenue while maintaining partner and user value.
  • Identify, prototype, and launch new B2B Search products and distribution opportunities, including new partner capabilities, commercial experiences, APIs, and product models that expand Yahoo’s addressable market.
  • Build scalable platform capabilities rather than one-off partner solutions, including partner data and reporting, Search and XML APIs, syndication capabilities, configuration frameworks, and reusable platform services.
  • Own and improve critical partner ecosystem capabilities related to traffic quality, integrity, and compliance, including areas such as chain of custody, invalid traffic, domain matching, parked domain traffic, and partner traffic governance.
  • Use experimentation and performance measurement to guide decisions, define success metrics, evaluate tradeoffs, and continuously identify new monetization and growth “jolts” across the partner portfolio.
  • Partner closely with Business Development, Partner Management, Engineering, Design, Analytics, Data Science, Monetization, Legal, Privacy, and other teams to launch new capabilities and improve existing partner integrations.
  • Serve as a senior Product counterpart to strategic partners, helping shape joint product roadmaps, identify new opportunities, diagnose issues, and translate partner-specific needs into scalable product investments.
  • Monitor the health and evolution of the partner portfolio across adoption, traffic quality, retention, monetization, partner satisfaction, competitive dynamics, and platform cost to determine where to invest, simplify, or change direction.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 9+ years of Product Management or equivalent experience, including significant experience building and scaling consumer, platform, partner, distribution, or monetization products, with proven experience managing PMs and driving large-scale platform or distribution portfolios.
  • Experience leading Product Managers while continuing to operate as a hands-on product leader with direct ownership of meaningful product scope.
  • Demonstrated success growing a product or business through improvements in traffic, engagement, retention, lifetime value, revenue, monetization, or distribution.
  • Experience working with external partners in a B2B2C, platform, syndication, distribution, OEM, browser, marketplace, or similar ecosystem.
  • Strong product and commercial judgment, with the ability to understand partner economics, identify new growth opportunities, and balance partner needs with end-user and business outcomes.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to work deeply with engineers on APIs, partner integrations, data flows, platform architecture, experimentation systems, traffic quality, and scalable configuration capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using product data, experimentation, cohort analysis, retention, LTV, traffic quality, and monetization metrics to guide product decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate individual partner needs into scalable platform products rather than relying on one-off custom solutions.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work directly with senior external partners and communicate product strategy, performance, tradeoffs, and recommendations to executives.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, identify new product opportunities, and move fluidly between long-term strategy and detailed product execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Search distribution, sponsored Search, Search syndication, browser or OEM distribution, or other large-scale third-party Search ecosystems.
  • Experience building or managing Search APIs, XML APIs, syndication products, developer platforms, or APIs designed for third-party product integration.
  • Familiarity with Search monetization, RPM optimization, advertiser economics, traffic quality, invalid traffic, domain matching, parked domains, or related Search marketplace concepts.
  • Experience building configurable B2B or B2B2C platforms that support multiple partner types, business models, and integration patterns.
  • Experience developing new partner-facing products or commercial models that created incremental distribution, revenue, or strategic value.
  • A track record of generating fresh product ideas, testing new growth and monetization opportunities, and turning successful concepts into scalable products.

The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies; exercising sound judgment; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.
