At BETA Technologies, we apply our intellectual curiosity, passion for aviation, and commitment to sustainability toward a shared mission of revolutionizing electric aviation. Regardless of the position one holds, each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing, vibrant, and inclusive culture.

BETA Technologies is seeking a Director of Supplier Quality to lead and elevate the Supply Chain Quality function as a core pillar of BETA’s Quality organization. Reporting to the Head of Quality, this Director provides senior leadership to two established teams — Supplier Quality Field Operations (supplier-facing quality coverage across the commodity base) and Supplier Quality Internal Operations (receiving inspection and home-team quality functions) — and is accountable for the performance, integration, and maturation of both. The Director sets the quality standards to which the supplier base is held, owns the supplier nonconformance and corrective action lifecycle, and ensures that incoming material meets the quality requirements of an aerospace company scaling towards full rate production levels and production certification under 14 CFR Part 21.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Lead the Supply Chain Quality organization — oversee the Field Operations and Internal Operations teams, setting direction, developing capability, and integrating the two functions into a unified supplier quality program with consistent standards and shared accountability.
  • Own supplier performance management across the commodity base — maintain and evolve the supplier scorecard methodology (OTD, receiving reject rate, NCR rate, SCAR closure, and corrective action responsiveness), while ensuring performance data is visible, actioned, and tied to improvement plans for underperforming suppliers.
  • Own the Supplier Corrective Action (SCAR) program end-to-end — set severity criteria, evaluate supplier RCCA submissions for technical adequacy, track systemic trend patterns, and drive multi-cycle corrective action closure with supplier management; , and present supplier quality performance at the Senior Corrective Action Board.
  • Govern the receiving inspection function — ensure the incoming quality activity is properly resourced, integrated with production scheduling, and connected to the nonconformance management system so supplier-sourced escapes are captured, dispositioned, and fed back into supplier performance records.
  • Own the supplier nonconformance lifecycle —ensure NCR aging, backlog, and disposition cycle times meet program quality requirements and do not create downstream production risk, from receiving rejection through disposition, return to supplier, SCAR issuance, and closure verification.
  • Support AS9100D compliance for externally provided processes, products, and services — partner with Quality Systems and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure supplier quality controls, evidence, and performance documentation satisfy AS9100 requirements and FAA Production Certification standards under 14 CFR Part 21.
  • Serve as BETA’s supplier quality interface to the FAA — support FAA CMS and ACO interactions on supplier-related requirements within TC and PC programs, and own supplier quality evidence within FAA certification packages.
  • Own First Article Inspection (FAI) acceptance standards for the supplier base per AS9102 — establish review criteria, authorize FAI acceptance, and build SQE team competency in FAI execution and package evaluation across all assigned commodity groups.
  • Drive integration of supplier quality data into BETA's quality intelligence making certain incoming material quality, supplier NCR trends, and OTD performance are visible in real time to Quality and Operations leadership.
  • Maintain and evolve the Supplier Quality Requirements Handbook and related procedures — ensuring QMS documents governing supplier quality obligations are current, applied consistently, and aligned to the company's production certification and AS9100 program commitments.
  • Represent Supplier Quality in cross-functional planning — provide supplier quality input to program schedule discussions, production readiness reviews, and sourcing decisions where incoming quality risk is a factor, while partnering with Procurement on supplier risk conversations without duplicating supplier relationship ownership.
  • Develop the Supplier Quality team — build individual and organizational capability across both Field Operations and Internal Operations; by establishing career development plans, technical training standards, and a consistent quality methodology from which the full SQ Supplier Quality organization operates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 12+ years of supplier quality experience in aerospace or high-reliability aviation manufacturing, with at least 3–5 years in a management role leading a multi-person supplier quality team.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and maturing a supplier quality program — optimizing team structure, improving supplier performance metrics, and elevating the technical capability of a supplier-facing quality organization.
  • Deep working knowledge of AS9100D with specific expertise in supplier quality obligations & FAA supply chain quality requirements under 14 CFR Part 21.
  • AS9102 First Article Inspection expertise — has reviewed, accepted, and set standards for FAI execution across a multi-commodity supplier base.
  • Strong SCAR program experience — has evaluated supplier RCCA submissions for technical adequacy, driven corrective action closure, and used supplier failure trend data to inform performance management decisions.
  • People management experience at a multi-level organizational structure— has managed managers and developed senior-level direct reports, along with a demonstrated ability to align two distinct teams (supplier-facing and receiving inspection) to a shared strategy while preserving functional accountability.
  • Supplier-facing executive presence — has experienced leading difficult supplier conversations at the Quality Director level; and is comfortable managing escalations, issuing improvement mandates, and negotiating corrective action timelines with supplier leadership.
  • Operates at both the strategic and tactical level — has set the Supplier Quality direction for the organization and has evaluated the technical adequacy of a specific SCAR response or NCR disposition.

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Experience with battery systems, electric propulsion, composite structures, or novel eVTOL commodity supply chains, as BETA’s supplier base spans composites, metallic structures, high-voltage battery systems, motors, and software-embedded electronics.
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt with supplier improvement project experience demonstrating measurable, sustained gains in supplier quality metrics.
  • AS9101G Process Effectiveness Assessment (PEAR) methodology experience.
  • DCMA or DoD supply chain quality oversight background.
  • Experience with supplier quality digital systems — NCR management platforms (e.g., Net-Inspect, Plex), supplier scorecard tools, or quality data infrastructure.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP).
  • Experience at a scaling aerospace OEM or a company transitioning from prototype to rate production — where processes, systems, and team capability are all advancing simultaneously alongside the product.
