Job Description

The Director of Sales- Small Business and Commercial is a strategic sales leader within Visa’s Small Business and Commercial Solutions organization, focused on the Super Regional Issuer Segment.

The Director owns a select portfolio of Visa’s largest and highest-growth issuer relationships, serving as the primary sales leader and trusted advisor. This role translates client priorities into account strategies, growth opportunities, and measurable outcomes.

The Director builds executive relationships, develops and executes account plans, solves complex client challenges, and mobilizes Visa resources to accelerate Small Business and Commercial portfolio growth.

Success requires executive presence, strong communication, commercial acumen, and the ability to lead through influence across Visa’s matrixed organization.

Strategic Sales Leadership

  • Own and grow a select portfolio of strategic Super Regional issuer relationships.
  • Develop multi-year account plans aligned to client priorities and Visa capabilities.
  • Build and manage a pipeline that expands payment volume, revenue, market share, and partnership value.
  • Deliver sales, revenue, volume, and strategic partnership objectives.
     

Relationship Development

  • Build trusted executive relationships across assigned clients.
  • Provide industry insight, strategic counsel, and actionable recommendations.
  • Lead business reviews, planning sessions, and partnership discussions.
  • Deepen engagement across client organizations to accelerate growth.
     

Account Planning and Business Growth

  • Create account plans with clear objectives, strategies, measures, and timelines.
  • Understand each client’s strategy, operating model, competitive position, and growth priorities.
  • Mobilize cross-functional resources to pursue opportunities across Visa’s Small Business and Commercial Solutions portfolio.
  • Review performance, align priorities, and drive accountability for execution and results.
  • Align internal stakeholders around client priorities and growth opportunities.
     

Problem Solving and Business Leadership

  • Resolve complex client, product, operational, and business challenges.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to remove barriers and deliver measurable value.
  • Anticipate risks, manage escalations, and balance strategic thinking with disciplined execution.
  • Partner across Product, Commercial Solutions, Consulting, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Client Services, and Account Teams.
  • Influence decisions and deliver a seamless, coordinated Visa experience.
     

Communication and Executive Presence

  • Demonstrate executive presence and communicate effectively with senior client and Visa leaders.
  • Translate complex ideas into clear, compelling executive messages.
  • Lead high-impact discussions on strategy, growth, and performance while representing Visa with credibility.
     

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in sales, business development, account management, strategic partnerships, or commercial leadership.
  • Experience with financial institutions, commercial payments, business banking, Small Business, Commercial Card, or related ecosystems.
  • Proven success managing strategic accounts, executive relationships, and growth-focused account plans.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Executive presence and the ability to lead through influence in a matrixed organization.
  • Track record of disciplined execution and measurable results.
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Information for US Applicants

For roles located in the US, the estimated salary range for this position is $242,000.00 to $ 387,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements

This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
