Director, Digital IP Roadmap
Austin, TX
The Role
Silicon Labs is seeking a Director, Digital IP Roadmap to define and drive the roadmap for our digital IP portfolio. This portfolio provides the foundation for products across the company, so the role will connect current and future product needs with the development and evolution of the IPs that support them.
You will gather input from product definition, architecture, design, applications, customers, and emerging industry standards. Working across these groups, you will assess needs, set priorities, and guide roadmap planning for a portfolio of more than 200 IPs. You will also contribute to the processes that help teams align development with the roadmap.
This is a senior, highly collaborative role. You will work with IP managers and design teams across multiple global sites, while those teams remain responsible for executing the development work. Your technical background will help you evaluate proposed features and tradeoffs, understand implementation effort, and build a roadmap that is both useful to the business and grounded in engineering realities.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the digital IP roadmap in alignment with current and anticipated product needs.
- Gather and reconcile input from product definition, architecture, design, applications, customers, and external standards.
- Assess and prioritize IP development opportunities, including immediate market needs and longer-term portfolio improvements.
- Coordinate IP streams and communicate roadmap priorities, plans, and dependencies across global teams.
- Drive the IP change management process and support consistent planning across the portfolio.
- Work with IP managers and design teams to align development plans with roadmap priorities.
- Evaluate potential IP features and subsystems, including emerging areas such as display, vision, and audio.
- Build strong working relationships across functions and resolve differing viewpoints through thoughtful, inclusive collaboration.
- Keep roadmap decisions technically grounded by considering feasibility, implementation effort, and the needs of the products that will use the IP.
Skills You Will Need
Minimum Qualifications:
- 15 or more years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with experience in a product-focused organization.
- A track record of working across multiple functions, such as design, systems, architecture, applications, or product definition.
- Hands-on experience with digital IP design, including prior RTL design experience.
- Strong understanding of SoC design and the role digital IP plays in product development.
- Ability to assess technical proposals, implementation tradeoffs, and development effort.
- Experience contributing to or driving IP planning, roadmaps, or cross-functional development initiatives.
- Clear communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to bring together stakeholders with different perspectives.
- A collaborative, open approach to gathering input, building alignment, and making decisions.
- Experience with wireless or general-purpose SoCs is relevant to this role. Direct people-management experience is not required.
