THE ROLE:
AMD is seeking a Director, Corporate Strategy & Partnerships to help define and shape the company’s long-term strategic direction across some of the most dynamic segments in technology. Based in Santa Clara, CA and reporting to the Head of Corporate Strategy & Partnerships, this leader will work at the intersection of technology, strategy, partnerships, and investment evaluation.
In this highly visible role, you will partner closely with executive leadership, the CTO Office, engineering organizations, and business units to assess market opportunities, evaluate competitive dynamics, guide strategic planning efforts, and identify opportunities for growth through partnerships, investments, and emerging technologies. You will help AMD anticipate where the market is heading and ensure the company’s technology, product, and business strategies remain aligned to maximize long-term value creation.

THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong blend of technical acumen, business insight, and executive presence. You are equally comfortable discussing semiconductor architectures and product roadmaps with engineering leaders as you are presenting strategic recommendations to senior executives.
You possess exceptional analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to synthesize complex technical, market, and financial information into clear, actionable recommendations. You thrive in ambiguous environments, influence across organizations, and are passionate about identifying new opportunities that strengthen AMD’s competitive position in rapidly evolving markets.
You are collaborative, results-oriented, and able to build trusted relationships with stakeholders across engineering, finance, product management, corporate development, venture investing, and executive leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with the CTO Office, engineering, and business leaders to evaluate AMD’s competitive position and assess product roadmaps against emerging technology and market trends.
- Develop strategic recommendations that address competitive, business, and technology gaps across CPUs, GPUs, AI accelerators, networking, and adjacent markets.
- Analyze market, technical, financial, and customer data to generate insights that support executive decision-making and strategic planning.
- Drive strategic assessments of emerging industry trends and recommend actions that strengthen AMD’s long-term market position.
- Identify new growth opportunities, evaluate market adjacencies, and develop market-entry strategies in partnership with business and commercial teams.
- Conduct competitive intelligence analyses and benchmark AMD’s technology position relative to industry competitors.
- Lead strategic research initiatives and facilitate executive discussions on competitive dynamics, disruptive technologies, and emerging opportunities.
- Evaluate startup ecosystems, technology partnerships, and investment opportunities in collaboration with AMD’s venture and innovation teams.
- Support annual long-range planning activities, including market sizing, TAM development, business transformation initiatives, and strategic growth planning.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations, business cases, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
- Lead and support partnership, investment, corporate development, and M&A-related activities, including opportunity identification, evaluation, diligence, alignment, and integration planning.
- Collaborate across functions to ensure engineering investments and strategic initiatives align with AMD’s long-term corporate objectives.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience developing and executing corporate strategy initiatives within the semiconductor, technology, computing, AI, cloud, or adjacent industries.
- Strong technical foundation with the ability to engage credibly on technology architectures, product roadmaps, and engineering investment priorities.
- Experience conducting market analysis, competitive intelligence, technology forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Demonstrated ability to transform complex technical and business analyses into actionable strategic recommendations for executive audiences.
- Strong financial analysis, business modeling, forecasting, and valuation capabilities.
- Experience developing executive presentations and communicating effectively with senior leadership teams.
- Knowledge of total addressable market (TAM) methodologies, portfolio planning, and long-range planning processes.
- Exposure to corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, strategic investments, ecosystem partnerships, or innovation programs.
- Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, product management, finance, and executive stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data-driven decision-making methodologies.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Advanced degree such as an MBA, MS, or similar graduate-level credential preferred.
- Combination of technical and business education strongly desired.

Compensation: Expected salary range: USD 188,370.00 per year to USD 269,100.00 per year
