We are looking for engineering students to join the Digital Industries Automation Internship Program - Technical Consulting TrackThis position will be based at one of our DI Automation hubs, including but not limited to Alpharetta, GA; Elk Grove Village, IL; Harleysville, PA; and Lebanon, OH.

This is a 12-week summer internship program (May 17, 2027 – August 6, 2027) that is designed to help you develop the technical expertise, consultative skills, and business proficiencies needed to succeed in technical solution consulting roles. You'll learn about our industrial automation technologies and their applications, create high-impact enablement materials, analyze data to drive sales growth, and gain exposure to a range of industries and customer types that our technology serves. This internship will prepare you for a potential opportunity with our full-time 18-month Automation Genesis development program or other entry-level roles after graduation.

You'll make an impact by:

  • Applying your engineering knowledge and problem-solving skills to learn Siemens DI Automation products, understand how they integrate into end-to-end solutions, and connect those solutions to complex manufacturing challenges faced by our end-customers, OEMs, and selling partners
  • Researching customer needs and trends in discrete or process industries, and matching our technologies to specific customer opportunities and competitive market landscapes
  • Analyzing customer data across key market segments to identify areas to expand market presence
  • Developing strategic discovery questions that help sales and technical teams understand customers’ manufacturing challenges, priorities, and solution requirements (for use in customer engagements)
  • Creating technical marketing and digital enablement materials, such as playbooks, brochures, digital content, presentations, and proposals that showcase Siemens DI technology as solutions to real-world production challenges and enable customer engagement
  • Applying basic engineering fundamentals to design easy-to-understand technical education content, diagrams, and guides that explain complex Siemens solutions to OEM customers or selling partners

Basic Qualifications:

  • This internship is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career/ Leadership Development opportunities.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's students pursuing a degree in: Industrial/Industrial Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical majors
  • Available to work 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, from May 17 to August 6, 2027
  • Familiarity with, or demonstrated technical aptitude for quickly learning complex industrial automation technologies (such as PLCs, industrial controls, HMI/SCADA systems, instrumentation, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills for translating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Interest in applying technical knowledge to understand customer challenges and develop practical, value-focused recommendations
  • Growth mindset, demonstrating resilience in navigating unfamiliar problems, technical concepts, feedback, and changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across technical, sales, marketing, and other cross-functional teams
  • Self-motivated and proactive with strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing projects independently while seeking guidance as needed
  • Must be willing and able to relocate to any of our DI Automation hubs for the summer. Location is assigned based on business needs, and relocation assistance is provided if you are required to relocate more than 50 miles from your permanent residence.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 20% for customer visits, job shadows, trade shows, and training events, and have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Leadership roles in student organizations
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, data visualization and analytics tools, or business-to-business processes
  • Coursework or interest in manufacturing systems or processes, or Industry 4.0

You’ll Benefit From
The hourly pay range for this position 31.00 - 32.00 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
