Description

Meta is at the forefront of developing innovative hardware that redefines how people experience the world — from virtual and augmented reality devices to cutting-edge technology. The DFX Manufacturing Engineering team is a critical pillar of this mission, ensuring that our cutting-edge devices are not only revolutionary in function but also manufacturable at scale with the highest standards of quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability. As a DFX engineer at Meta, you will be essential in driving manufacturing progress and preparing Reality Labs (RL) products for mass production. You will work closely with teams focused on Mixed Reality, Wearables, and Smart Glasses to address complex manufacturing challenges through early design interventions, development of advanced/repeatable processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. Your efforts will help ensure that Meta's devices are scalable, cost-efficient, and meet the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

Partner with Hardware Engineers to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges by applying best-in-class DFX practices and principles Work closely with contract manufacturers and automation suppliers to develop and qualify manufacturing processes and equipment for final assembly, packaging lines, and optical module automation, constantly seeking to enhance product quality and production efficiency Create and approve manufacturing documentation including line layout, NRE, process flows, SOPs, qualification packages, fixture/equipment designs, and setting yield targets for every build Create Engineering Requirements Specification (ERS) documents and review/approve all proposals from vendors Support factory operations by troubleshooting assembly line issues, conducting failure analysis, and driving process improvements Collaborate with internal partners (Mechanical, Electrical, Optical Design, Quality, Factory Operations, Manufacturing Test, and TPM teams) and external contract manufacturers (CMs) and suppliers/vendors. Work in close partnership with the Product Cost Engineering (Product Cost Engineering), Capex, and Product Design Engineering (Product Design Engineering) teams to drive cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality Track the latest manufacturing technologies and processes, identifying opportunities to leverage them for Meta's products. During engineering builds, capture all issues and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions
