he Amazon Web Services Professional Services team is seeking a skilled Delivery Consultant – Application Modernization, to join our team at Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role, you'll work closely with customers to design, develop, implement and re-engineer applications to fully leverage the AWS Cloud, including GenAI-accelerated modernization techniques. You'll be a key leader in driving customer success through their cloud journey, providing technical expertise and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.

As a Delivery Consultant - Application Modernization, you will be proficient in leading the architecture of complex, scalable, and secure solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of each customer. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, assess current applications, and propose effective migration strategies to AWS. As trusted advisors to our customers, providing guidance on industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions, you will be responsible for leading the implementation process, ensuring adherence to best practices, optimizing performance, and managing risks throughout the project.

The AWS Professional Services organization is a global team of experts that help customers realize their desired business outcomes when using the AWS Cloud. We work together with customer teams and the AWS Partner Network (APN) to execute enterprise cloud computing initiatives. Our team provides assistance through a collection of offerings which help customers achieve specific outcomes related to enterprise cloud adoption. We also deliver focused guidance through our global specialty practices, which cover a variety of solutions, technologies, and industries.

Key job responsibilities
Designing and implementation of complex, scalable, and secure AWS solutions tailored to customer needs

Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support throughout project delivery

Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose effective migration strategies

Acting as a trusted advisor to customers on industry trends and emerging technologies

Sharing knowledge within the organization through mentoring, training, and creating reusable artifacts

Helping customers modernize legacy applications using proven patterns such as strangler fig and anti-corruption layers

Decomposing monoliths into microservices and serverless architectures (Lambda, ECS/EKS, Fargate, Step Functions, EventBridge)

Modernizing legacy stacks (e.g., .NET Framework → .NET Core, Java EE → Spring Boot, mainframe/COBOL transformation)

Database modernization using RDS, Aurora, DMS, and schema conversion tooling

Working as a technical leader alongside customer business, development and infrastructure teams

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc. experience
  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
  • Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of consulting, design and implementation of serverless distributed solutions experience
  • Experience leading application architecture/design/modernization projects, including cloud-based solutioning (AWS or equivalent), with AI and automation
  • Experience using agentic coding tools (Kiro, Kiro-CLI, or similar) and GenAI services such as Amazon Bedrock to accelerate modernization work, including code understanding, refactoring, test generation, and documentation
  • 5+ years experience of large-scale software development or application engineering with recent coding experience in two or more of: Java, C#/.NET, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, Go, Ruby, Swift.
  • 4+ years experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Ability to obtain Canadian federal security clearance, or valid Secret or Top Secret clearance.
  • Only applicable for Quebec location: fluency in French and English is required due to the nature of the role that requires interaction with other Amazon entities globally and with Amazon employees and stakeholders in other provinces in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Professional level certification
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience modernizing complex enterprise applications
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience building sophisticated cloud native applications
  • Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (e.g. security, privacy, SOX, HIPAA etc.)
  • AWS experience preferred, with proficiency in a wide range of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudFormation)
  • Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Terraform, Python)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to lead software engineering best practices across testing, source control, code reviews, and deployment/release management processes

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
