Creative Director, Standalone App
Description
We're Meta's Standalone Apps Team — we build new apps to reach new user scenarios and serve needs that aren't well met today. The project we're building right now is an image-and-text community where real people share first-hand experiences and recommendations — what to try, where to go, how to do something. It's where people come to get inspired and to make everyday decisions, learning from others who've actually been there. It's still early — a small team working 0 to 1. If you want high ownership, a short path from idea to ship, and the chance to shape a product from its first version, this is that kind of team. We're looking for a Creative Director to shape the experience end to end — from product thinking and flows to polished, shippable UI. You'll be one of the design voices defining what a brand-new app feels like.
Responsibilities
Own the design of major product areas end to end: framing the problem, exploring directions, and delivering high-quality, shippable UI. Concept, prototype, and produce iconic interactive brand experiences for product surfaces, product campaigns, and activations Define and evolve the brand design system — typography, color, grid, layout, and visual language — ensuring coherence across product surfaces, marketing, and physical touchpoints. Partner closely with product and engineering to ship, and to keep quality high under a fast 0→1 pace. Prototype and test ideas quickly using research and data to inform design decisions, and create storyboards, motion studies, prototypes, and design specs that guide development and clearly communicate creative intent. Lead cross-functional projects from concept through delivery, driving progress autonomously and communicating proactively with stakeholders. Present creative strategy and rationale to leadership, influencing product and brand decisions with a clear point of view. Identify opportunities to innovate on brand expression through emerging tools, AI workflows, and new interaction paradigms. Provide direction and mentorship to designers across the organization, raising the bar for craft.
