Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a smart, experienced, and highly motivated litigator to help manage its worldwide portfolio of government enforcement, litigation, and regulatory matters, and advise the company on a wide variety of legal and business risk management issues.

Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities include handling and supervising a wide range of government disputes and regulatory engagements across all of Amazon’s businesses; directly interacting with government officials, including local, state, and federal regulators and law enforcement; directing overall case and matter strategy; selecting and managing outside counsel; assessing risk and coordinating with senior leadership on risk management; counseling internal stakeholders on a broad spectrum of complex and often novel legal and policy issues; and managing all stages of both affirmative and defensive litigation, including discovery.

This position is part of Amazon’s Government & Regulatory Litigation team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • 5+ years of post bar admission legal experience
  • 5+ years of litigation and regulatory experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in crisis management and response or equivalent
  • Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication
  • Experience at both a law firm and federal or state government agency
  • Federal judicial clerkship
  • Trial experience
  • Familiarity with retail, Internet, software, and/or media industries and the legal and regulatory environment in which they operate
  • Proficiency in advising senior executives of an organization
  • Demonstrated sound business judgment
  • Demonstrated high ethical standards and professional integrity

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
