Summary

Apple is looking for a Network Operations Engineer to join their Global Network Services (GNS) team.  This person will work in a dynamic team and environment and be responsible for the Global WAN & optical infrastructure including Metro and Long Haul applications.

Description

This Network Operations Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and performing high level optical troubleshooting on complex global optical WAN network to address a variety of business challenges.    They will need to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with the ability to multitask.  This person must be a collaborative team player that will work across cross-functional groups and have the ability and willingness to mentor others and have a sound business approach for supporting our global footprint.
Besides a technical role, this position requires strong people skills and an individual who enjoys the dynamic nature of Apple’s environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the DWDM optical network, including but not limited to transponder, line system, and ROADM technologies, identifying and resolving network alarms and performance issues, and performing advanced troubleshooting to ensure network reliability and service availability.
• Participates in a rotating duty pager schedule to provide after-hours support for network incidents and service-impacting events.
• Requires flexibility to work scheduled shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to maintain continuous network operations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two to four years of professional experience in optical networking, telecommunications, network operations, or a related engineering environment.
• Experience with Tier I/II NOC functions.
• Solid understanding of optical network design.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, certifications, and practical experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering, network engineering, or a closely related technical field.
