The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert and strategic leader for operational excellence initiatives across Tesla's manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for driving large-scale Lean Six Sigma deployments, leading complex cross-functional improvement programs, and developing CI capability across the organization The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience in high-volume manufacturing environments and a proven track record of delivering measurable business results through structured problem solving and waste elimination.

This role will be based out of the Greater Houston Area (TX) and will require 50% travel to the Bay Area (CA) to support early builds and validation support for the next 3-4 months.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive quality management system to ensure product specifications and industry standards are met 

• Investigate and resolve quality-related issues and defects, and report on quality performance to company stakeholders. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address quality issues promptly 

• Prepare and present quality performance reports to project stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, issues, and progress towards quality objectives 

• Oversee documentation of quality control activities, including inspection reports and corrective action plans 

• Provide training and support to project and operations teams on quality standards and best practices 

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience 

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance and quality control, with a strong focus on large-scale construction projects 

• Experience with electro-mechanical, vehicle or aerospace assemblies, battery pack or module manufacturing preferred 

• Six Sigma or ASQ certification are preferred 

• Specific training and demonstrated success in applying design for quality, problem-solving methodologies, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE and SPC 

• Strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to industrial electrical projects 

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex information and make data-driven decisions 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate quality principles and standard
