As part of our Places Construction team, you’ll play a significant role in transforming spaces into
functional corporate offices and product development centers. We’re seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Project Manager to own the end-to-end delivery of our key capital projects, including the delivery of high-design workplaces and technically complex laboratory fit-outs. This role requires a unique blend of skills—the ability to implement an elevated design vision with meticulous attention to detail, deep technical expertise, and strong project management discipline.

Description

As the Construction Project Manager, you will be the key point of contact for project delivery to partners and leadership, responsible for taking projects from initial concept through design, construction, commissioning, and final handover. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives on coordinating with a diverse group of stakeholders—including executive leadership, internal cross-functional partners, architects, engineers, and general contractors—to deliver inspiring and functional spaces on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Scope & Strategy: Translate end-user and scientific requirements into actionable design criteria, defining project scope, milestones, and deliverables in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Planning & Procurement: Develop comprehensive project execution plans (budgets, schedules, risk mitigation) and drive the selection and management of architects, engineers, general contractors, and specialty trade vendors.
  • Design & Technical Integration: Oversee the design development process to preserve architectural intent while coordinating complex MEP and process utility systems critical to lab environments (HVAC, process piping/gases, clean dry air, tooling hookups).
  • Site Leadership & Craftsmanship: Serve as the owner’s representative on-site, enforcing uncompromising standards for safety, schedule discipline, and finish quality befitting high-design Apple environments.
  • Project Controls & Financials: Rigorously manage project budgets, cost forecasting, contractor billing, and change orders, proactively mitigating cost and schedule variances.
  • Permitting & Compliance: Direct all local authority approvals, environmental health and safety requirements, and municipal permitting processes.
  • Handover & Operational Readiness: Orchestrate seamless transitions to facilities and end-users, managing commissioning, punch lists, occupancy permits, and complete documentation handover (as-builts, warranties, O&M).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive project management experience delivering complex, multi-million-dollar capital construction projects.
  • Proven track record managing technically complex tenant improvements.
  • Demonstrated mastery of full project lifecycles: programming, design management, municipal permitting, site execution, commissioning, and financial closeout.
  • Strong commercial acumen with direct experience managing contract negotiations, budget forecasting, and change order audits.
  • Flexibility to travel to various project sites, vendor locations, and regional offices as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive project management experience delivering complex, multi-million-dollar capital construction projects.
  • Experience delivering high-design corporate workplaces where aesthetic quality and architectural finishes were paramount.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguous, fast-paced environments and resolve complex project trade-offs independently.
  • Proactive mindset: identifies potential constructability or schedule risks well before they impact field operations and devises effective mitigation plans.
  • Exceptional consensus-building and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical construction issues clearly to executive and non-technical stakeholders
