Purpose of the Role 

This position is for a marketing communications professional who can lead external communications work in Austria while supporting events, visits and internal communications. The role combines hands-on PR execution (from drafting and proofreading bilingual materials to coordinating agencies, media and stakeholders) with practical support for site events, executive and government-related visits, employee communications, and photo and video content needs. 

What you’ll do

Focus Distribution 

  • PR and external communications experience (approximately 40%) 
  • Event and visit support (approximately 30%) 
  • Internal and employee communications support, including Social Impact activities (approximately 20%) 
  • Photo and video production (approximately 10%) 

1. External Communications and PR (~40%) 

  • Manage day-to-day coordination with PR agencies, local and regional media, photographers, media partners, print suppliers and event service providers. 
  • Support press spokespersons: prepare briefing documents, align key messages, and handle media follow-ups. 
  • Draft, proofread and quality-check PR and communications materials in German and English (press releases, subtitles, media briefings and event materials) 
  • Produce media materials, briefing sheets, coverage reports, summaries and follow-up notes in English. 

2. Event and Visit Support (~30%) 

  • Plan and support site events, visits and media-related activities at the Austrian sites, including examples such as executive visits, government visits, and official delegations, with support for protocol, agendas, briefing packs, site logistics and on-the-day coordination. 
  • Coordinate corporate events and trade fair participation: venues, suppliers, local partners, shipping and receiving of materials. 
  • Manage schedules and meeting arrangements for event-related activities, including PR moments, media visits, executive engagements and government-related meetings. 
  • Handle purchase order creation, invoice processing, budget tracking and vendor coordination for PR and event projects. 
  • Collect and report metrics for media coverage, events and communications activities. 

3. Internal and Employee Communications (~20%) 

  • Develop and publish PR-relevant content on the intranet and internal social platforms. 
  • Prepare internal announcements supporting PR activities, media visits, executive communications and site events. 
  • Deliver employee communications for Social Impact activities in Austria, including coordination with NGO and community partners. 

4. Photo and Video Production (~10%) 

  • Capture or commission photography and video at site events, visits and Social Impact activities. 
  • Edit video content for internal and external channels 
  • Select, crop and lay out photography for internal and external communications use. 

Who we’re looking for

Minimum qualifications

  • Completed education (College or Bachelor) in the field of Business, Marketing or Communication 
  • Minimum four years of experience in public relations, external communications, media relations, corporate communications, marketing communications or event support
  • Native German speaker with professional working proficiency in English, spoken and written, with the ability to write and proofread press materials, announcement emails, short articles and briefing documents in both languages
  • Demonstrated video editing ability, with a portfolio or work samples. Working knowledge of a standard editing suite and basic photo editing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams and Excel, and comfort working in English-language tool interfaces.
  • On-site presence three days per week
  • Strong self-management: able to prioritise, sequence and deliver without close supervision
  • Organised and detail-oriented, particularly under event-day pressure
  • Proactive
  • Strong communicator and genuine team player across sites and functions
  • Flexible and comfortable with shifting priorities

 A valid work permit for Austria is required for this position.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience supporting government visits, executive visits, corporate events or media activities
  • Familiarity with the European/Austrian media landscape, local vendors and regional business communications
  • Experience working with NGO or community partners on social impact or sponsorship programmes

What we're offering

This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for Employees in the Metal Technology Industry in the occupation group E-F depending on educational background. A higher payment is negotiable depending on education, expertise and skills. The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year. 

The candidate will be hired through a third party agency.
