Commissions Manager
Our Mission
You call. You wait. You call again. In every other part of your life, you book in seconds. In healthcare, you’re blocked.
We’re here to give power to the patient.
For nearly 20 years, we’ve built the leading healthcare marketplace - helping tens of millions of people find and book the care they need. Now, we’re going further: building our infrastructure beyond Zocdoc’s marketplace to power access to care wherever patients search, from provider websites and insurance directories to search engines, AI platforms, and more.
Healthcare still lacks something every other major consumer industry takes for granted: a seamless way to go from seeking to getting. We don’t want to own the front door to care; there isn't one. We want to make sure all of those doors open when patients are knocking.
Fixing healthcare starts with fixing access to it. And we're still just getting started.
Your impact on our mission
Zocdoc’s most important asset is our people.
As a Commissions Manager, you’ll help our Sales and go-to-market teams trust how their work translates into compensation. You’ll own accurate, timely commission operations while building the systems and processes that make our incentive programs easier to understand and scale. Working across Commercial Operations, Finance, Revenue Technology, Payroll, People Operations and GTM leadership, you’ll help modernize a complex compensation environment so our commercial teams can focus on bringing more providers onto Zocdoc and connecting more patients with care.
This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Director, Commercial Operations.
You’ll enjoy this role if you are…
- Motivated by getting the details right and building trust through accurate, transparent compensation.
- Excited to own both recurring commission operations and a significant systems transformation.
- Analytically-minded, and focused on how commercial activity, data and incentive plans connect—and are able to explain those connections clearly.
- Comfortable bringing structure to complex, evolving processes without relying on a one-size-fits-all solution.
- Organized and dependable when coordinating deadlines, stakeholders and competing priorities.
- A thoughtful partner who handles sensitive compensation questions with sound judgment and empathy.
- Energized by simplifying and automating manual work, learning new tools and making processes easier for others.
Your day to day is…
- Own the commission lifecycle for Sales and eligible go-to-market teams, from calculations and reconciliations through approvals, payroll submissions and employee statements.
- Translate approved compensation plans into clear rules, documentation and reliable system configurations; maintain participant and plan-assignment data.
- Lead the move from spreadsheet-based administration to an enterprise incentive compensation management platform, including requirements, vendor evaluation, business case development, data design, historical migration, parallel testing, training and rollout.
- Partner with Commercial Operations, business-unit leaders, Sales leadership and Finance to simplify 25+ legacy compensation structures into a scalable menu of core plan archetypes.
- Establish dependable data flows and governance across CRM, HRIS, Finance and billing systems; automate eligibility and crediting logic, including effective-dated territories, split credits, caps, accelerators and clawbacks.
- Maintain strong approval and audit controls; investigate discrepancies, manage exceptions and disputes, and coordinate fair, well-documented resolutions.
- Coordinate annual plan transitions, fiscal-year rollovers, quota and territory alignment, and mid-year organizational changes with Sales leadership, Revenue Operations, Payroll and People Operations.
- Partner with Finance on payout forecasting, expense accruals and plan-performance analysis, and improve processes to reduce manual effort while maintaining accurate, on-time commission delivery.
You’ll be successful in this role if you have…
- 8+ years of relevant experience in incentive compensation, Sales or Revenue Operations, or Finance, including direct ownership of recurring commission administration across multiple plans.
- End-to-end commission modeling and operations experience, including eligibility and crediting rules, reconciliations, approval controls and payroll handoffs. You understand that compensation plans may use different bases and revenue measures.
- Experience owning or functionally leading an incentive compensation platform implementation, including requirements, configuration, data validation, testing and rollout. Experience with platforms such as CaptivateIQ, Spiff, Varicent or Xactly is preferred.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills and confidence investigating CRM and operational data. Experience with Salesforce, SQL and automated data pipelines is a plus.
- Experience handling complex or large-scale commission programs. Familiarity with SaaS, marketplace or consumption-based revenue models is valuable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex compensation mechanics to employees, leaders and cross-functional partners.
- Sound judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and respect for confidential compensation information.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, build alignment across teams and improve workflows while maintaining dependable controls.
- The ability to use approved generative AI tools to support documentation, analysis and workflow improvement, while validating outputs and protecting confidential data.
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
