Tesla is looking for an experienced HVAC Commissioning Superintendent to join our Infrastructure Facilities & Commissioning team. This senior field leadership role is responsible for driving the successful field execution of commissioning programs across facilities infrastructure projects, including HVAC, process piping, mechanical, electrical, and controls systems. The ideal candidate is a proven field leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, plans meticulously, and executes within tight windows. This role works closely with construction, commissioning engineers, operations, construction, controls, and QA/QC teams to ensure all systems are delivered safely, on time, and to Tesla's standards. 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure contractors adhere to quality expectations, ensure timely handover to commissioning, lead/mange technicians supporting commissioning activities, interface with 3rd party vendors, and support the project as required
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and manufacturers during equipment start-up and testing 
  • Ensure teams are completing completions management checklists through commissioning to operations handover, including all documentation and punch list closeout in CxAlloy. Drive contractors, vendors and technicians to complete and close checklists on schedule 
  • Develop and/or manage commissioning schedules
  • Review P&IDs, single-line diagrams, control narratives, and design documents to verify compliance, constructability, and operability 
  • Support the development of commissioning BOMs, RFQs, and RFPs to ensure all necessary equipment, tools, and resources are procured ahead of execution 

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of industrial commissioning or construction leadership experience with Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred, but not necessary
  • Commitment to a strong safety culture. Participate in, develop and enforce: LOTOV, Pre task planning, PSSRs, Job hazard analysis, and general site safety practices per Tesla standards
  • Deep technical knowledge of HVAC, process piping, mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, installation and validation methods
  • Keen eye for detail ensuing thorough documentation, punchlist closeout, and quality assurance 
  • Experience guiding field activities such as flushing, blowdowns, pre-commissioning, startup, and site acceptance testing across multiple trades 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
