We handle both customer facing (external) and internal traffic which have strict privacy and security requirements.

Description

This is a team of software/systems/network engineers directly responsible for traffic globally for Wallets, Payments and Commerce. This includes services such as Apple Pay, Apple Card, Apple Cash, Identity, Transit and more.

Responsibilities

Ensure the highest level of up-time and quality of service to Apple’s customers through operational quality.
Design, maintain, and improve global production traffic infrastructure.
Ownership of reliability issues using a wide variety of tools.
Identify areas to improve service resiliency through techniques such as chaos engineering, performance / load testing, and game days.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience with load balancing (Nginx, Envoy and Envoy Gateway), proxies (Squid) and edge deployments.
2+ years cloud engineering
6+ years on-premise datacenter experience
Familiarity with Networking, Security, Logging, and Application Monitoring
Production On-Call experience for critical systems
Maintaining customer commitments
Navigating the complexities of the business and service reliability
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Bachelors Degree in computer science, related field, or 10 years of equivalent work experience is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven ability to mentor, upskill, and guide fellow engineers
Developing in Go, Python, or similar programming languages
