As a Cloud Software Development Engineer, you will design, develop, validate, and debug software solutions that optimize Intel hardware features for cloud, hybrid cloud, and on-premises deployment models. Your daily work will revolve around developing full-stack software, spanning firmware, drivers, operating systems, middleware, and applications. By enhancing Intel's cloud technologies, your contributions will have a direct impact on delivering innovative and high-performance solutions to our global customers.
You will be joining the Central Engineering Group (CEG), a dedicated team within Intel that focuses on creating cutting-edge engineering solutions. CEG supports Intel's mission of driving innovation and excellence by enhancing hardware and software integration for diverse deployment models. This team plays a key role in optimizing Intel's product portfolio and enabling seamless adoption of Intel technologies across the cloud ecosystem.
The primary responsibilities for this role will include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, validate, and debug software solutions to enable Intel hardware features and optimize deployment models for cloud, hybrid cloud, and on-prem environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand partner software stacks and provide full-stack optimization spanning firmware, drivers, OS, middleware, SDKs, frameworks, algorithms, and applications.
- Contribute to the development of reference cloud platform software and implement improvements to maximize value from Intel products.
- Design and develop advanced system software solutions, including simulation technologies, data services, AI/ML frameworks, and open-source software projects.
- Identify and implement optimizations for system software to ensure high performance and reliability of Intel cloud technologies.
- Document processes to improve system effectiveness, streamline workflows, and increase accountability.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related STEM field, with 0-1 years of hands-on experience in software development and/or validation and demonstrated skills gained through internships, academic projects, coursework, or hands-on training. OR - Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related STEM field, with no prior professional experience.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, C++, or C.
- Understanding of CPU architecture and OS internals.
- Familiarity with CI/CD environments (e.g., TeamCity, Jenkins) and source control tools like Git/GitHub.
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency (both written and verbal).
- Must have unrestricted - permanent right to work in Costa Rica.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
- Experience with Simics modeling, QEMU, or other software simulation technologies.
- Familiarity with software testing methodologies and tools.
- Knowledge of container orchestration platforms like Docker or Kubernetes.
- Background in performance optimization of complex software solutions, system software development, or navigating product architecture datasheets.
- Understanding of Datacenter architecture, cloud technologies, Linux and Windows server administration, and GitHub automation.
