About the role:

Siemens Digital Industry offers a comprehensive portfolio of seamlessly integrated hardware, software and technology-based services to support companies worldwide in enhancing the flexibility and efficiency of their processes- be it the automotive or aerospace industry, in process industries like pharma or chemical, mechanical engineering or other interesting sectors like power distribution and defense.

We at Digital Connectivity & Power are innovation leaders in OT-Network devices and systems, with an ambition to grow even stronger in the IT/OT convergence field.

At our product creation site in Concord, Canada, we focus on rugged network products which are marketed under the Siemens Ruggedcom brand name.

Currently we are looking for a Chief Product Owner who would lead and guide our Product Owners to excel at their job, to teach and to educate them further on successful project management skills and to be a role model for our ownership culture. The Product Owners ensure a highly efficient and time-to-market driven development of our products. In this role, the Product Owners are responsible for creating the R&D centric backlog and to follow up closely on the project progress, remove hindrances and guide the project team through their development steps. Consequently, our Product Owners combine solid traditional R&D project management skills with a strong ownership culture for their products. They are responsible and accountable for the smooth progression of our R&D projects, including a very transparent project status reporting throughout all stages of their projects.

In this role you will also take on some of our most prominent projects as your personal responsibility, to keep a hands-on relationship with our day-to-day projects and to contribute directly with your experience to our most critical products.

If you combine strong and modern leadership skills with profound experience in R&D project management, you are the person that we are looking for. We expect experience in the field of electronics and embedded software. To have insight into networking devices and software would be a strong plus.

What will you do?

  • Jointly with the Product Head, evaluate product and feature requirements, advise on the value-to-effort ratio of pre-ranked requirements, and develop a prioritized backlog for the development teams.
  • Facilitate discussions between technical experts and Product Management, using your technical knowledge and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ensure projects are properly set up before execution, closely monitor the project environment, and step in when teams encounter obstacles, unclear requirements, difficult dependencies, or resource constraints.
  • Escalate critical issues directly to site management in Canada and the Head of the Product Line in Germany.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities across the organization, applying lessons from previous development cycles to strengthen execution excellence while remaining actively involved in day-to-day project work.

What will you need to succeed?

  • University degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Embedded Software or similar field
  • Proven track record in project management of 10 years or more
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in R&D
  • Experience in leading hardware and embedded software development across the full product lifecycle, with accountability for project execution, quality, cost and roadmap/schedule.
  • Strong expertise in PLM and development processes, including driving process standardization, governance and continuous improvement.
  • Technical knowledge of embedded systems, including hardware, embedded software, system integration, and validation.
  • Experience in developing engineering organizations, including coaching technical talents and fostering knowledge sharing and capability building.
  • Energetic entrepreneur with creative ideas and the power to motivate others and to foster broad engagement in our projects
  • Execution-oriented mindset, with a focus on delivering results on time, within budget, meeting the technical requirements and the quality targets.
  • Fact-based decision maker, using data, KPIs, and technical evidence to prioritize and resolve issues.
  • Strong stakeholder management, collaborating effectively across R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and other business functions.
  • Change-ready leader, driving continuous improvement, adopting AI-enabled ways of working, and communicating with clarity and transparency.
  • Hands-on people leader, promoting accountability, continuous learning, and high-performing teams through regular coaching and feedback.

Salary is commensurate with experience, and ranges between $ 130,000 CAD - $ 150,000 CAD, excluding bonus and benefits. In addition to base salary, this role includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus of 25% base salary, based on Company performance metrics.
