What you'll doWe are seeking a CMDB and ServiceNow Change Management resource to provide technical leadership and delivery for a global Change and Configuration Management evolution program and migration from Cadence to ServiceNow.
This contractor will act as the primary technical lead representing Global IT Infrastructure throughout the program, working closely with the Change & Configuration Management Process Owner, infrastructure engineering teams, ServiceNow development resources, and our ServiceNow implementation partner.
The role is not responsible for performing direct ServiceNow development activities. ServiceNow platform configuration and workflow development will be delivered by existing internal ServiceNow resources and their implementation partner. Instead, this role will drive the definition and implementation of technical requirements, CMDB architecture, service modelling, infrastructure onboarding, discovery strategy, and data quality controls. Working in partnership with the Change & Configuration Management Process Owner, ServiceNow teams, and other stakeholders, the contractor will facilitate solution design decisions, build stakeholder consensus, and ensure proposed designs are reviewed and approved through appropriate
governance processes before implementation.
The successful candidate will bridge infrastructure operations, configuration management, and ServiceNow delivery teams while ensuring the CMDB provides the ownership, dependency, risk, and service relationship data necessary to enable automated, risk-based Change Management processes
The day-to-dayProvide leadership for the Change and configuration management transformation program.
You will act as the liaison between:
- Change & Configuration Management Process Owner
- Infrastructure Engineering teams
- ServiceNow delivery teams
- ServiceNow implementation partner
- Service owners and application teams
- Enterprise Architecture team
- Lead technical workshops and solution design sessions
- Engage with application and product owners for service discovery and team by team enablemen
- Ensure alignment between technical implementation and business objectives
- Actively participate in technical delivery planning and sequencing of CMDB and Change Management capabilities
- Resolve technical and data ownership issues across onboarding teams.
Migration Support
- Support team-by-team migration from Cadence to ServiceNow
- Validate CMDB readiness prior to onboarding
- Participate in migration planning and readiness reviews
- Support user acceptance testing and adoption activities
- Identify and resolve technical issues impacting migration success
- Capture and apply lessons learned between onboarding waves.
Change Management Enablement
Work closely with the Change Process Owner and ServiceNow delivery teams to support iterative development and implementation of:
- Dynamic approval routin
- Risk-based approval workflow
- Regulatory approval workflow
- Impacted Services (based on dependency maps
- Service-based approval
- Automated identification of approver
- Post Implementation Review determinatio
- Cybersecurity approval controls
CMDB Strategy & Architecture
- Review and refine the proposed ServiceNow CMDB data model
- Define CI classes, relationships, ownership models, and reconciliation rules
- Ensure alignment with ServiceNow CSDM while maintaining a simple and operationally focused design
- Define KPIs for data quality, completeness, and operational effectiveness
Discovery & Data Integration
- Implement and integrate infrastructure discovery and inventory data sources, including:
- CrowdStrike
- Infoblox
- Infrastructure discovery platforms
- Application inventories
- Design automated ingestion, normalization, and reconciliation processes.
- Implement data quality controls, monitoring, and reporting
Service Mapping
- Support service mapping workshops with infrastructure and application teams.
- Document and validate service dependencies and ownership.
- Establish operational relationships between infrastructure, applications, and services.
- Support impact analysis and dependency visibility for ITSM processes
Governance & Operating Model
- Support development of CMDB governance processes and standards
- Recommend operational procedures for maintaining CMDB accuracy
- Develop reporting and dashboard capabilities
- Ensure alignment between ServiceNow CMDB and LeanIX ownership models
Delivery & Stakeholder Management
- Facilitate workshops with infrastructure, platform, application, security, and compliance stakeholders.
- Produce architecture, design, and operational documentation.
- Participate in agile delivery management ceremonies
- Ensure knowledge transfer to operational teams.
- 3-5+ years experience implementing or transforming enterprise Change and Configuration Management processes, preferably within ServiceNow
- Experience working across cross-functional technical teams involving infrastructure, operations, enterprise architecture, and service management teams
- Experience implementing ServiceNow CMDB and CSDM.
- Experience integrating multiple infrastructure and application data sources.
- Strong understanding of CMDB governance and data quality management.
- Strong understanding of ITIL Incident, Change, Problem, Asset, and Configuration Management.
- Experience facilitating technical workshops and working with diverse infrastructure teams.
- 3+ years of ServiceNow experience.
- ServiceNow Certifications
- Experience with Enterprise Architecture practices and LeanIX
- Experience within regulated environments supporting ISO 27001, NIST 800-171, SOX, PCI, or similar compliance frameworks.
$121,000.00 - $191,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $150,000.00- $225,000.00/ annually
