The Apple Operations Buy/Sell team is involved in the purchasing of key strategic commodities from suppliers and the sale of those commodities to contract manufacturers. These commodities include key components required in the manufacture of Apple products.
Description
In this role, you will be directly involved in the end-to-end procurement and order management of Buy/Sell activity, engaging internally across a number of Apple functional teams and externally with both suppliers and contract manufacturers.
You will work within a team of experienced buyers, reporting directly to the Buy/Sell Manager. The role requires the ability to adapt quickly in a challenging and dynamic environment, operating across time zones with teams in Asia and the US.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate Buy/Sell purchasing activities with Global Source and Supply Managers (GSSMs), suppliers, contract manufacturers, and other related functions.
- Manage Sales Orders from contract manufacturers and release Purchase Orders to suppliers, managing supplier shipments and goods receipts end to end.
- Ensure all Purchase Orders and Sales Orders align with the correct pricing, part number, and quantity.
- Monitor open or missing Advanced Shipment Notifications (ASNs) from suppliers and open or missing Goods Receipts from contract manufacturers on a daily basis.
- Interact closely with GSSMs, Finance, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to monitor performance and address any supply chain issues.
- Collaborate with Finance and other functional teams to resolve supplier and contract manufacturer payment issues and drive issue resolution.
- Ensure closure of all Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Return Merchandise Authorisations, and Price Adjustments.
- Manage the release of inventory from Apple Owned Inventory Hubs to contract manufacturers.
- Ensure the data integrity of procurement business systems, including SAP and purchasing and sales order systems.
- Participate in process improvement and work with key stakeholders in developing automated solutions, including user acceptance testing to ensure solutions are fit for purpose.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), quarter end, and other related Buy/Sell activities, including new supplier and commodity setup and site-to-site material transfers.
- Support third-party process audits, including SOX and Apple internal audits.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in a procurement or order management role with full knowledge of procurement policies and practices.
- Experience using SAP within a procurement or supply chain environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in report creation and data management.
- Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams including Finance, Supply Chain, and external partners.
- Ability to operate on own initiative in a flexible and dynamic organisation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be fully considered.
- IIPMM, IPICS, or equivalent procurement or supply chain certification.
- Knowledge of supply chain and logistics operations.
- Advanced technical capabilities including macros, pivot tables, and data reporting tools.
- Experience working with Asia-based vendors.
- Proficiency in Mandarin, Japanese, or Korean.
