Overview

The Foundry and Inference Training (FIT) team within Microsoft AI Infrastructure builds the platforms, systems, and operating mechanisms that enable teams to develop, train, deploy, and run AI services at scale. You will help FIT operate effectively by bringing structure to business processes, workforce and budget planning, organizational health, leadership communications, and cross-functional programs. Working with Engineering, Finance, Global Talent, Human Resources (HR), Procurement, and partner organizations, you will help the team align resources and execution with its changing business priorities. 

As a FIT Business Program Manager - AI Infrastructure you will help manage the team's rhythm of business, workforce and budget operations, executive communications, organizational health, and cross-functional initiatives. You will bring structure and clarity to ambiguous problems, operationalize new support systems and processes, and use data, dashboards, automation, and AI tools to surface insights and support timely decisions. You will collaborate with engineering leaders and partners across Finance, HR, Procurement, and other organizations to align planning and execution with leadership objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Program & Process Incubation: Bring structure and clarity to ambiguous problems. Drive the ideation and operationalization of new support systems, processes, and programs that simplify how the business runs. Define objectives and deliverables, coordinate stakeholders and resources, and track outcomes for cross-team initiatives. 
  • Workforce Management: Support headcount across full-time employees (FTEs) and contractors, and monitor backfill needs, open requisitions, and contractor engagements, including renewals, extensions, and offboarding, to help ensure the full workforce matches business priorities, budget, and operational demand. Partner with Finance, Human Resources (HR), and Procurement on annual and ongoing workforce and spend planning, and keep leaders informed of plans, risks, and exceptions.
  • Knowledge Management & Training Enablement: Build and maintain an accurate, current internal knowledge ecosystem to keep documentation, training materials, and resource hubs refreshed, accessible, and aligned with the team's changing priorities. Help drive required training and organizational compliance goals.
  • Executive Communications & Stakeholder Management: Work with executive stakeholders across engineering, Finance, HR, and partner organizations to deliver clear, concise, and timely communications. Support the team's rhythm of business by coordinating key meetings, preparing leaders for executive engagements, tracking action items and engagement requests, and aligning team activities with leadership objectives while exercising confidentiality and discretion.
  • Business Operations & Continuity: Support the annual budget process across people and non-people spend, track financial progress against budget, and help maintain business continuity during periods of change or special circumstances. Support adherence to privacy, security, and compliance requirements through established plans, processes, metrics, and follow-up. 
  • Automation, Analytics & Insights: Use data, dashboards, automation, and AI tools to produce operational insights by building and maintaining reporting systems that show organizational health, surface trends, and support faster, better-informed decisions. Track key results and financial, workforce, and operational indicators to support accountability and measure progress against stated goals.
  • Organizational Health: Partner with HR, leaders, and the business management community on organizational-health, culture, and inclusion initiatives. Monitor scorecards, connect teams to relevant guidance and resources, and help plan and execute programs or training as needed. 

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 4+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
      This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.  

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in program management, product management, or technical leadership roles.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication/presentation skills at all levels of the organization, technical and non‐technical.
  • Experience partnering with engineering teams to deliver high-impact results.
  • Proven project management, leadership, and cross‐group collaboration skills. Proven ability to prioritize, plan, and execute across a diverse set of stakeholders .
  • Proficiency in identifying Data source of truth, managing and leveraging data to understand patterns and trends and recommend solutions
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with various teams, including product, engineering, design, marketing, and data science, to drive growth.
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), risk assessment systems, or intelligent automation solutions
  • Experience analyzing large datasets and translating insights into product or engineering improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence through automation, scalability, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Seeks technological challenges and able to deal with ambiguity.
  • Ability to define requirements, scope solutions, estimate work, and deliver improvements that reduce operational risk and increase service resilience
  • Skilled in developing automation, services, and tools using Go, Python, Terraform, and other relevant technologies
  • Experience; leveraging AI tools to improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency, applying AI technologies to automate recurring workflows and enhance business outcomes. 
  • Comfortable with automation through scripting

Business Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.
