Description

Tesla is seeking a skilled Body Repair Painter to join our precision repair team at our facility in Eagle Farm, Queensland. This is a hands-on, technical role for a dedicated professional who delivers consistent, high-quality finishes and works efficiently in a production environment.

If you’re a qualified painter with experience in automotive refinishing — particularly in OEM-level colour matching, panel blending, and advanced finish work — this is an opportunity to work on some of the most advanced vehicles in the world, right here in Australia.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare damaged panels by removing paint, rust, grease, and old filler using abrasives, solvents, sandblasters, and power tools.
  • Perform structural and cosmetic repairs including dents, scratches, and panel gaps using body fillers and precision sanding techniques.
  • Achieve seamless blending between repaired and original surfaces to ensure a smooth, uniform finish.
  • Mix and apply basecoat and clearcoat with precision using air-assisted spray systems — ensuring consistent coverage, no runs, and zero overspray.
  • Match factory paint colours accurately across all finishes, including metallics, pearls, and special-effect coatings.
  • Maintain and clean spray guns, air lines, and associated equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Conduct final polishing, buffing, and waxing to deliver a flawless, showroom-ready finish.
  • Support production timelines by completing work efficiently and to a high standard, with minimal rework.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience as a paint technician or body repair painter in a professional automotive workshop.
  • Proven ability to match OEM paint finishes under real-world conditions.
  • Strong understanding of paint mixing, application techniques, and finish quality control.
  • Experience with waterborne or low-VOC paint systems (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-quality environment.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 25 kg and working in varied conditions (including confined spaces and high-temperature booths).
  • Familiarity with safety protocols, PPE, and chemical handling in spray environments.
  • Valid Australian driver’s licence and reliable transport
