Join Siemens, s.r.o. and take ownership of the technical engine room behind our global software delivery! As our Backend Systems Engineer (Oracle & Integration), you will be responsible for the "backbone" of the Siemens Software Release Management platform. This isn't just about maintenance—it’s about ensuring that the critical data flows that power our software production are stable, integrated, and optimized. If you enjoy a role that blends database administration, system integration, and hands-on tool development, we want to meet you.

What will your main responsibilities be?

  • Database Ownership: Managing and administering our critical Oracle databases—specifically SZEN (central coordination) and SPRO (production data). You will handle table replication and ensure any data conflicts are resolved quickly to keep production running.
  • Toolchain Operations: Operating and maintaining the specialized SRM product data acquisition toolchain (based on ClearCase). You will ensure that product data is correctly captured and provisioned from development stages to the final data cache.
  • System Integration: Maintaining the vital data flows between various enterprise systems, ensuring that product information is transferred accurately through every step of the software production chain.
  • Automation & Monitoring: Using Tcl and other scripting languages to automate XML generation (TclXML) and managing system health through Watchdog monitoring tools.
  • Internal Tool Development: Supporting and evolving our internal tools to meet new technical requirements and improve the efficiency of our release platform.
  • Troubleshooting: Acting as the go-to expert for complex backend issues, performing system administration, and ensuring the technical stability of the entire platform.

What do we expect from you?

  • Database Expertise: Solid experience in Oracle Database Administration (managing tables, replication, and performance).
  • Technical Versatility: A background in system integration and application support—you understand how different IT systems "talk" to each other.
  • Scripting Skills: Experience with Tcl/Tk to automate data generation and system tasks.
  • Version Control Knowledge: Conceptual understanding of ClearCase or comparable version control (VoB structures, labels, attributes)
  • Analytical Mindset: The ability to trace data through complex systems to identify and fix the root cause of technical bottlenecks.
  • Communication: Good English skills for daily collaboration with our international technical teams. English is our primary language.
  • Ability & willingness to travel to customer’s site (occasional business trips to Erlangen, DE)

What we will teach you (Skills to be Learned On the Job):

Don't worry if you are not familiar with all our internal systems yet. We are ready to support your growth and help you master the following within your first months:

  • SRM-specific database logic: Deep dive into SZEN & SPRO structures, replication mechanisms, and conflict resolution.
  • ClearCase detail: Mastering SRM status logic (Experimental, Preliminary, Released) and complex VoB structures.
  • SAP integration: Understanding order intake, V-status, and license obligation logic.
  • TeamCenter integration: Managing product definitions, CC-status transfer, and archiving processes.
  • Event-driven data provisioning: Handling Stage-VoB loading, provisioning rules, and cache management.
  • Tcl/Tk codebase: Familiarization with adaptations and full tool development (GUI, Watchdog, TclXML).
  • SRM-Tools extensions: Implementing database enhancements to ensure data consistency and quality.

What Siemens offers you beyond great career opportunities:

  • More time to rest: Up to 33 days of vacation (5 weeks of holiday + up to 8 extra days from the benefits budget).
  • Flexibility and home office: Flexible working hours and the ability to work from home (3 days/ week), with a contribution towards expenses.
  • Individual benefits budget: Personal budget of at least CZK 34,000 for finance, wellbeing, and health.
  • My finance: Contributions towards pension/life insurance and an Employee Stock Ownership plan.
  • My wellbeing: Cafeteria system, meal e-vouchers, and company nurseries in Prague and Ostrava.
  • My health: Discounted MultiSport card and access to premium healthcare.
