We are looking for rising and recent engineering graduates for our Automation Genesis program – Process Engineering Track. The first six months of this position will be based at Mason, OH, with subsequent placement at one of our DI Automation hubs or customer regions, including but not limited to Alpharetta, GA; Elk Grove Village, IL; Chicago, IL; Harleysville, PA; Lebanon, OH; or Detroit, MI based on business needs.

This program, comprised of two phases, is designed to prepare you for impactful application engineering roles within Siemens Digital Industries Automation. The journey begins with a 6-month intensive onboarding phase that combines structured training with hands-on project work to develop your expertise in our Digital Industries Automation portfolio, accelerate your understanding of our business strategy and core processes, enhance your professional skills, and strengthen your engineering and project execution capabilities. Phase 2 is an immersive 12-month, during which you’ll deepen your technical expertise in industrial process control, gain hands-on experience with engineering and commissioning large-scale systems, and refine customer engagement skills. Upon successful completion, you’ll transition to a designated full-time role as an Application Engineer on one of our Process Automation Engineering teams.

You’ll make an impact by:

• Actively engaging in instructor-led training, workshops, and engineering projects to build a strong understanding of Siemens and our DI Automation technology portfolio, while mastering the skills to design and deliver innovative and safe automation solutions for customers in process industries (such as chemical, food/beverage, and pharmaceutical)
• Developing, implementing, and testing Distributed Control System applications and Manufacturing Execution Systems for greenfield facilities, facility expansions, and system modernization initiatives
• Identifying and documenting system requirements using Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams(P&IDs), process descriptions, and/or existing control logic
• Creating test specifications, performing simulations, and executing software/hardware demos to validate compliance with customer requirements, and supporting system installation and onsite commissioning activities to ensure successful project delivery
• Working closely with project managers, project teams and technical customers throughout the project lifecycle while supporting project proposals, providing technical calculations and engineering estimates, adhering to quality standards, schedule, and budget requirements, and contributing to customer satisfaction

Basic Qualifications:

• Eligibility Requirement: This Development Program is designed for individuals beginning their professional careers. Candidates must have completed, or will complete, the required educational credentials prior to the program start date. This program is intended for candidates at an early career stage. Current students seeking an experiential learning opportunity while continuing their studies should consider our internship and co-op programs.
• Available to start full-time employment on June 7, 2027
• Bachelor's degree: Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related majors
• Foundational understanding of and interest in process controls, industrial automation, instrumentation, or other complex engineering systems through coursework, research, projects, internships, or other related experiences
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies, engineering concepts, software platforms, and design tools
• Experience with interpreting, documenting, or analyzing technical and customer requirements based on engineering documentation such as process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, electrical schematics, control logic, or design specifications
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply engineering principles to develop, test, troubleshoot, and commission integrated engineering systems and applications involving hardware, software, controls, instrumentation, and other connected equipment
• Demonstrated ownership and time-management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities and adapt to changing project needs
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to understand customer needs and provide consultation, and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams in both industrial settings and office settings
• Must be willing and able to commit to the required relocations: first to Mason, OH for 6 months, followed by assignment to one of our DI Automation hubs or customer region including (but not limited to) Alpharetta, GA; Elk Grove Village, IL; Chicago, IL; Harleysville, PA; Lebanon, OH; and Detroit, MI. Relocation assistance is provided to hires who must relocate more than 50 miles from their permanent address for each required move.
• Travel requirements will be a function of assigned projects (including system installations and commissioning activities at customer sites) and will likely range from periods of light travel (5-10%) to periods of higher travel (50%)
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to PLCs, industrial networking, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and/or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
• Previous internship, research, or project experience in an industrial, manufacturing, chemical processing, or project engineering environment
• Programming or software experience with Python, SQL, C/C++, and/or Visual Basic 
• Demonstrated leadership through academic or extracurricular activities

The pay range for this position is $81,000 - $84,000 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
