Position: Automation Engineer Co-op/Intern
Number of Position(s): 2
Duration: 4 Months (with potential extension for Summer 2027)
Date: January - April 2027
Location: Onsite, Ottawa, ON, Canada

EDUCATIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS

Currently enrolled in the third or fourth year of a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer/Software/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field with an accredited school in Canada.

Qualifications

You Must Have:

  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts gained through coursework, projects, or practical experience.
  • Comfortable working with Linux operating systems
  • Experience with Java and familiar with programming concepts
  • Scripting (Bash, Perl, Python)
  • Experience using Power BI for dashboard creation, reporting, or data visualization.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, and advanced formulas.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
     

It Would Be Nice If You Also Had:

  • Experience with SQL, or similar data analysis and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with operational processes and workflows in a technology-driven environment.
  • Prior internship, co-op, academic project, or consulting experience related to software development.
  • Experience with Power Automate or other workflow automation tools.
  • Exposure to forecasting, demand planning, or business performance reporting.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven analytics, automation, or predictive modelling techniques.
     

Responsibilities

What you will learn and contribute to 

  • We are seeking students to join our team of network automation and orchestration experts. We work closely with customers as professional services consultants to create and deliver automation solutions for our IP customers. Our deployments are primarily related to the IP Networking in Nokia's DataCenter solution. 
  • Our team provides tools & custom scripting work in ansible, python and other scripting languages to enable the fulfillment of these workflows.   
  • As a co-op student you will be working
  • closely with a senior member of our team on tools & scripting related tasks. 

As part of our team, you will: 

  • Learn about Nokia's Data Center Solution. 
  • Gain hands-on experience with OpenStack and Kubernetes.
  • Develop scripts to aid our team in the delivery of custom automation projects.

Salary Range: $47,424 - 91,104 CAD per year
