Automation Engineer
Join our Team
About the role
Join Ericsson as an Automation Engineer and help improve network operations by building and supporting rule-based automations in ENABLE. You will work with network operations stakeholders and technical teams to identify repeatable operational activities, turn requirements into reliable automation, and support the execution and continuous improvement of automation workflows. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role suited to an engineer with 2–3 years of relevant experience. Practical ENABLE experience is strongly preferred.
What you will do
- Develop, configure, validate and maintain rule-based automations in ENABLE for network-node interventions and operational workflows.
- Work with operations teams and subject-matter experts to understand recurring activities, pain points and service requirements; help assess and scope suitable automation opportunities.
- Translate requirements into clear automation logic, rules, workflow steps and acceptance criteria.
- Test automation changes, investigate failures and exceptions, troubleshoot issues, and support safe deployment and ongoing operation.
- Monitor automation outcomes and execution trends; identify defects, outliers and opportunities to improve reliability or reduce manual effort.
- Maintain clear technical documentation, runbooks and reusable automation assets; share learnings with the team.
- Collaborate with network engineers, solution designers and delivery teams to ensure automations fit the operational environment.
- Follow Ericsson ways of working and applicable security, quality, compliance and safety requirements.
What you will bring
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in automation engineering, network operations, or a closely related technical role.
- Experience developing, configuring, supporting or troubleshooting automation workflows, rules, scripts or operational tools.
- Ability to analyze a process, clarify requirements, break problems into implementable steps, and validate results.
- Practical troubleshooting skills, including interpreting execution results, logs or error messages and working through issues systematically.
- Clear communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with both technical teams and operational stakeholders.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electronics, Telecommunications, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on exposure to Ericsson ENABLE; experience building or supporting ENABLE automations is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with network operations or management workflows, including event, incident, problem or service operations.
- Working knowledge of scripting or programming (for example, JavaScript or Python), Linux/Unix command-line environments, and structured data such as JSON or SQL.
- Experience with automation testing, runbooks, operational monitoring, or continuous improvement of production workflows.
- Automations meet agreed functional and operational requirements and behave reliably in their intended environment.
- Issues and exceptions are investigated and communicated promptly, with clear documentation and follow-through.
- Reusable workflows and documentation help the team improve automation quality and reduce avoidable manual work.
- Work is delivered collaboratively and in line with Ericsson security, quality and compliance expectations.
