Automated Warehouse Operations Engineer
Description
Meta is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Automated Warehouse Operations Engineer, who will be responsible for the end-to-end launch and operation of all new automated warehouses across Meta's centralized warehouse network. This position acts as the owner for new-site standups, ensuring each facility is built for optimal space utilization, material handling equipment (MHE) integration, automation readiness, and compliance with Meta's company standards. You will drive layout and capacity decisions, absorb the full scope of warehouse stand-up work, and directly support the anticipated centralized warehouse growth. This role is crucial for ensuring that new automated facilities are designed correctly, delivered on time, and built to specification as Meta scales its storage and distribution operations across our warehouses, data centers, and POP/Hut network.
Responsibilities
Must be available to work an 8-hour shift within a 12-hour operational window (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), with flexibility required for occasional weekend coverage as needed. When a weekend shift is assigned, an alternate weekday off will be scheduled Execute all warehouse standup tasks for new facilities, including MSOW/lease coordination, contingent worker hiring, and general site setup Identify the need for any WMS enhancements and support rollout of any WMS enhancements at the warehouse Maintain roadmap for systems and process improvements to improve throughput, safety and productivity at the site Create and maintain detailed 2D/3D CAD layouts for all new facilities, optimizing for material flow, storage density, and automation readiness Recommend storage media (pallet rack, shelving, VLMs) and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) requirements based on order profiles and SKU velocity Conduct capacity analysis across storage, shipping, and receiving, and develop business cases for new facility designs Plan and oversee installation of floor markings, safety striping, location labeling, and signage Partner with the internal Robotics team on technology selection, vendor selection, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for all automation deployments at the facility Partner with IT and Facilities teams to ensure power, Wi-Fi, Lighthouse/RSE, and security infrastructure meet operational needs Develop storage profiles, zoning, and slotting strategies prior to go-live in support of WMS configuration Manage all required documentation deliverables, including the equipment register, DRP, training log, and org chart Validate SKU master data and ensure compliance with HAZMAT and FAI requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience 7+ years of experience in warehouse/distribution center design, industrial engineering, or facility layout Experience creating 2D/3D CAD layouts (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or equivalent) Experience specifying storage media (pallet rack, shelving, VLMs) and material handling equipment (MHE) Experience performing capacity, slotting, and material-flow analysis Willingness to work on-site and travel to new-site stand-ups (up to 50%) Experience designing automated or robotics-enabled warehouses (ASRS, AMRs, conveyance) Experience with greenfield warehouse standup and WMS configuration Knowledge of SOX inventory controls, HAZMAT, and FAI requirements PMP certification or equivalent project management experience Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements) Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Compensation: $115,000/year to $163,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
