Associate Manager, Mobile Equipment Maintenance & Fabrication
Description
The Mobile Equipment Maintenance Associate Manager (AM) for Production Control is responsible for leading equipment maintenance and fabrication supervisors to ensure equipment availability and performance, with a strong focus on breakdown management and follow-up actions that prevent repeat failures, spare parts management, and team training and development. This role oversees preventive maintenance, fabrication and repair of dollies, racks, and electro-mechanical and pneumatic automobile manufacturing equipment; develops and maintains maintenance oversight and calibration programs, schedules, machinery, and equipment; and supports engineering and manufacturing through 5S, material handling improvements, production line configuration, and safety procedures. The AM builds quality control inspections, ensures standard work instructions are followed, formally documents daily shop work for the Department Manager, and partners with cross-functional teams and department leaders on part quality, production efficiency, work cell ergonomics, and equipment maintenance—while fostering a positive, collaborative environment and demonstrating strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills as an innovator and change agent.
Responsibilities
- Establish systems to ensure that department projects and tasks are 100% on-time and effective for all manufacturing equipment
- Manage the performance in preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of Material Handling Equipment such as Dollies, Racks, and related automobile manufacturing support equipment
- Day-to-day coverage of Fabrication and Dolly/Rack Repair teams including subordinate supervisors as well as collaboration with interdepartmental teams
- Establish and maintain a positive work environment for non-exempt workers to be productive, and completely engaged with Tesla Mission, Core Values, and Culture
- Review department budget and provide recommendations to leadership as well as review and approve departments purchase orders
- Assist with industrial maintenance regulatory compliance and safety
- Will support both day and night shift manufacturing schedule (Various weekends and holiday required)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Management preferred, however extensive military or industry experience will be considered by the hiring manager if there are direct correlations to the description and responsibilities of the role, or equivilant experience
- 2 plus years of experience in supervision and/or leadership of technical/customer-focused teams
- 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance specializing in welding, fabrication, machining, or a related field preferred
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)—including monitoring, scheduling, and creating work orders and preventative maintenance schedules—is a plus
- Must be skilled with common workplace software (MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
- Able to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and schematics
- Excellent written and verbal communication & people management skills

Expected Compensation
$128,000 - $192,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
