Description

We are looking for a hands-on leader to manage life safety systems operations at Gigafactory Nevada. You own day-to-day operations of campus fire alarm and fire protection, the inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) program, and the technicians who do the work. It is an operations and people-leadership role - you are responsible for keeping life safety systems available on a live production campus, running impairments and fire watch with Fire Ops and production, and holding ITM to NFPA 72 and NFPA 25 standards.

Responsibilities

  • Own fire systems operations: system status, impairments, reliability, and support with response
  • Plan and supervise inspection, testing, and repair detection, notification, sprinkler, pre-action, deluge, and fire-pump systems on the campus
  • Lead and develop the fire systems technician team: staffing, scheduling, coaching, performance, and coverage, including after-hours response
  • Own execution of the documented ITM program for fire alarm (NFPA 72, Chapter 14) and water-based systems (NFPA 25): frequencies, deficiencies, corrective work, and records that stand up to AHJ and insurer review
  • Manage impairments: fire watch, production coordination, restore, and close-out so a bypass does not become a standing condition
  • Hold fire-alarm and sprinkler/pump contractors accountable for contracted ITM and repairs
  • Support commissioning and acceptance as the operations and ITM owner: deficiency list and turnover into the maintenance program

Requirements

  • 5+ years in fire alarm and/or water-based fire protection operations on an industrial, manufacturing, or critical campus, including hands-on ITM
  • 2+ years leading technicians, service crew, contractor operation and ITM team (scheduling, response, quality of tests, and accountability)
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 72 ITM and NFPA 25 (frequencies, impairments, pumps, valves, pre-action, and deluge) as applied in the field
  • Clear communication with technicians, Fire Ops, Engineering, contractors, Storey County AHJ, and FM Global
  • NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II or III, and/or NICET Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems Level II. FM Global or AHJ inspection experience
  • Nevada or equivalent fire-alarm technician license, or the ability to obtain one
  • Siemens or Edwards service experience. Programming is not this job. CMMS / work-order discipline on a 24/7 plant
