Associate Data Engineer, Manufacturing Planning Systems, Semi
Description
The Associate Data Engineer builds and sustains the data-structure pipeline that holds the Semi production plan. That pipeline supports forecasting, production planning, and the handoff into execution. You work with planners so the plan the factory runs is complete, current, and checkable.
You help keep the modules and the checks that set sequence and priority. You do not own the production plan. Planners own that decision. You help shape the data the plan runs on, the load from the ERP and the other sources, and the SQL that shows supply against demand. An experienced engineer leads this work. This seat is Semi at Gigafactory Nevada.
Responsibilities
- Help build and sustain the data-structure pipeline and the checks on it. You are not the technical owner of every planning module. An experienced engineer leads that
- Help develop and maintain the logic that sets priority and sequence for the Semi plan
- Help implement the check that balances a production constraint with demand. You do not own the production plan. Planners own that decision
- Work with demand planning and production planning to automate a step they still do by hand
- Work with operations so a planning task at the factory can be run again without waiting on one person
- Help design the data model the plan runs on, so a read stays fast enough for the weekly cycle
- Help build the load from the ERP and the other sources. Validate it before it reaches the live plan
- Write SQL that compares supply and demand and shows the gap
- Help turn planning data into a report a lead can use. Document the rule, the release, and the open item
Requirements
- 0–1 years in software development or data engineering. Internships, co-ops, and school projects count. Able to judge a data problem before writing the code, and comfortable when the plan changes
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, Operations Research, or equivalent experience
- Optimization methods, such as linear programming or constraint satisfaction, manufacturing planning or S&OP, a load from an ERP, and Git, an API, or a scheduled job, are a plus but not mandatory
- Python, with a path toward NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy, and strong SQL for joins, filters, and a query that compares supply with demand. Able to turn a planner's request into a technical specification and test the result, including a check for missing or wrong data before it reaches the live plan. Works across planning and operations
