Associate Contract Manager, Amazon MGM Studios
Amazon MGM Studios Legal (India) is hiring an Associate Contracts Manager to support its growing slate of original content across film and series production, content licensing, and talent engagements in India. In this position, you will:
1. Support the negotiation, drafting, and management of entertainment and production-related agreements across India
2. Ensure contracts are commercially sound, compliant with local regulations, and aligned with studio business objectives
3. Serve as a point of contact for cross-functional teams — including production, business affairs, marketing, and finance—on contractual matters
4. Leverage technology and automation tools to enhance contract management efficiency and scalability
5. Assist in developing standardized templates, playbooks, and self-service resources tailored to studios operations in India
6. Contribute to the team's goal of delivering operational excellence while supporting a fast-moving, creative business
You'll be part of a nimble, high-impact legal team that partners closely with creative and business stakeholders to bring stories to audiences across India and globally.
Key job responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of entertainment agreements including production services agreements, talent agreements, content licensing deals, music licenses, post-production and VFX contracts, marketing and publicity agreements, and vendor/service agreements
Manage contract lifecycle from initiation through execution, ensuring timely turnaround on high-volume deal flow
Provide guidance to business teams on contract terms, risks, and standard practices specific to the Indian entertainment industry
Create and maintain standardized contract templates and playbooks for recurring deal types, leveraging AI and other technology tools
Oversee and maintain a contracts database; develop mechanisms to track transactions and surface insights at scale
Coordinate with outside counsel on specialized matters and ensure alignment with internal legal positions
Ensure compliance with Indian regulatory requirements, including those related to intellectual property, labour/employment, censorship/content regulation, and tax/withholding obligations
Identify opportunities for process improvement, workflow automation, and self-service enablement for business clients
A day in the life
Review and respond to incoming contract requests from creative, business affairs, production, marketing and PR teams
Draft and negotiate production services agreements, amendments, and statements of work
Host consultation sessions with business stakeholders to provide guidance on deal structures and contract terms
Build and maintain digital playbooks and FAQs for common entertainment contract scenarios in India
Support the development of business self-help tools and decision trees for routine contract matters
Assist in creating automated workflow solutions for standard, repeatable contract requests
Collaborate with cross-functional legal colleagues in other countries on multi-territory deals and templates

Basic Qualifications
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Experience in contracts management, leading or supporting contract negotiations, and drafting contracts, or other comparable roles
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint)
- 2+ years of drafting and negotiating the legal terms in a broad range of standard commercial contracts experience
- BA/BS or LLB degree (or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications
- Can use AI for legal research, contract analysis, or document review experience
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Experience in the entertainment, media, or content production industry
- Familiarity with Indian entertainment industry practices, including talent engagements, production workflows, and content licensing
- Previous in-house legal experience, ideally at a studio, production company, or media/tech company
- Background in process improvement, workflow optimization, or digital transformation
- High attention to detail with proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
- Self-starter mindset with a focus on excellence, adaptability, and continuous learning
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across time zones and cultures
