Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. As an Area Manager at a Delivery Station, this role sits at the centre of last-mile logistics, ensuring orders are fulfilled, dispatched, and delivered to customers on time and to the highest standard. The position involves leading a team focused on safety, efficiency, and quality, while driving continuous improvement projects across the operation.
Key job responsibilities

-Analyse operational performance data and implement changes to maintain consistently high quality and productivity standards
-Lead and manage process improvement projects to streamline workflows and optimise Delivery Station output
-Evaluate shift performance against business objectives and define clear action plans to strengthen operational excellence
-Collaborate with fellow managers to standardise best practices and ensure consistency across all shifts

A day in the life
No two days are the same in a Delivery Station. Responsibilities span routine team management and daily operational tasks through to large-scale contingency planning and network-wide process improvement initiatives. The primary focus remains on owning a culture of safety, upholding quality standards, and ensuring each shift performs at its best. Mentoring emerging talent and role-modelling Amazon's Leadership Principles are equally central to the day-to-day experience.
About the team
Amazon Logistics (AMZL) manages last-mile delivery in partnership with third-party distribution businesses, combining creative thinking and continuous improvement to get millions of products into customers' hands. The mission is to deliver a seamless customer experience while rolling out innovative global delivery solutions, including Amazon Fresh and Prime Now.
The Delivery Station operates across two dimensions: an under-the-roof team that processes and dispatches millions of products daily, and an on-the-road network operating through Amazon Flex. The team runs 24/7 across most locations, with a strong people-first culture, particularly supporting associates on overnight shifts. Innovation is constant, from finding new ways to tackle industry logistics challenges to reducing the carbon footprint through advanced technology and a growing fleet of Electric Vehicles.
