Description

The Design and Engineering Team of Tesla Infrastructure is looking for a Architect to join our organization. The ideal candidate should be able to collaborate with multiple technical disciplines, multi-task effectively, and thrive in fast-paced, large-scale, and complex industrial projects.

This is a full-time position based in Houston, (TX) that will support projects in the area and across multiple Tesla’s locations in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Perform feasibility and techno-economic studies on capital projects to facilitate leadership’s decision making and help the aggressive budget and schedule goals
  • Collaborate with various design teams, and liaise with manufacturing, construction, and facility-management stakeholders to understand the project requirements and deliver fully coordinated sets of construction documents
  • Prepare drawings, perform calculations, review construction documents and specifications for projects of various sizes and complexity
  • Typical scope may include retrofitting or modifying existing buildings, designing new buildings or new additions
  • Collaborate with the estimating team preparing test-fits and bill of quantities to facilitate cost estimates for construction and project funding
  • Support the architectural design effort by producing deliverables for Permit and Construction, including plans, sections, details, schedules, layouts etc.
  • Interface with external design consultants during bid and project execution as needed to ensure that design and specifications produced by third party consultants meet Tesla’s requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years’ work experience in large industrial, institutional, commercial facilities (manufacturing, data centers, hospitals, airports, college campuses, etc.)
  • Experience of at least two $50M+ projects, (preferably design-build). Registered Architect is preferred but not required
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural design principles and applicable codes, design guides and standards related to the discipline
  • Must prioritize and manage heavy workload on multiple projects to ensure high quality and productivity
  • Ability to develop architectural deliverables using state-of-the-art 3D modeling software. Revit, proficiency is a mandatory requirement for the role
  • Collaborating with other discipline leaders to develop and improve project workflows and standards to ensure that deliverables are fully coordinated
