Amazon FinOps is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead the Accounts Payable Quality Control (APQC) team. In this role, you will own end-to-end quality assurance for AP operations — designing and executing sampling strategies, leading auditor teams, building risk-based prioritization frameworks, and driving AI/automation adoption to scale QC coverage without proportional headcount growth.

You will manage a team of quality analysts and auditors, set quality standards across multiple AP verticals, and partner with Operations, Technology, and Finance leadership to embed controllership into every AP process. You are equally comfortable presenting root-cause findings to senior leaders as you are diving into data to validate an anomaly. You think like a builder — always asking "how do we automate this?" before "how do we staff this?"

The ideal candidate brings deep accounts payable or financial operations QC expertise, a track record of managing analyst/auditor teams, and a bias toward using data, automation, and AI-powered tools to raise the bar on defect detection and prevention.

Key job responsibilities
Quality Control Strategy & Governance
  • Own the APQC framework: sampling methodology, risk scoring, defect taxonomy, and escalation protocols across all AP verticals
  • Design and maintain controllership health metrics — connecting SOPs, policy documents, and tech controls into a unified risk-monitoring system
  • Define quality KPIs (defect rates, audit coverage, SLA adherence, false-positive rates) and hold the team and operations accountable to them
  • Conduct and oversee internal QC audits; represent AP Quality in external and cross-functional audit reviews
People Management & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of quality analysts and auditors across multiple AP verticals
  • Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and manage performance
  • Build team capability in data analytics, automation, and AI-assisted auditing — upskilling from manual audit execution toward tech-enabled QC
  • Drive hiring, onboarding, and retention strategies to maintain a high-performing, engaged team
  • Foster an inclusive team culture of ownership, curiosity, and continuous improvement
Automation & AI-Driven Quality
  • Champion automation of manual QC processes — identify high-ROI automation opportunities and partner with technical resources to deliver them
  • Drive adoption of AI/ML-based anomaly detection, risk scoring, and predictive defect models to augment human auditors
  • Own the roadmap for QC automation: prioritize, scope, and track initiatives that reduce manual audit effort while increasing coverage
  • Partner with Engineering, Data Science, and Product teams to integrate AI outputs into operational workflows
Data Analytics & Reporting
  • Build and maintain dashboards tracking quality metrics, audit outcomes, defect trends, and team productivity
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on defect patterns; translate findings into preventive actions and process improvements
  • Present quality performance, risks, and recommendations to senior Finance and Operations leadership (WBR/MBR/QBR cadence)
  • Use statistical methods to validate sampling strategies and ensure audit coverage is optimized for risk
Stakeholder Partnership
  • Partner with AP Operations leaders to align QC priorities with business objectives and operational pain points
  • Act as the quality voice in cross-functional forums — influencing process design, system changes, and new program launches to embed quality upfront
