The Role:

Our site in Billerica, MA is seeking a Analytical Organic Lab Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.

The Analytical Organic Chemist Co-op will support the evaluation of liquid filtration and purification products through hands-on experimental work in our Metrology Laboratories. This role will also contribute to the development, optimization, and validation of advanced organic analytical methods using state-of-the-art instrumentation to assess filtration and purification materials. These efforts will support membrane research and development (R&D) and new product development (NPD) initiatives focused on next-generation filtration and purification technologies.

The co-op will gain valuable experience in analytical testing of filtration and purification products for the semiconductor industry while developing technical expertise in advanced analytical instrumentation, method development, data analysis, and industrial research practices within a collaborative R&D environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct organic analysis using GC-MS, Pyrolysis-GC-MS, LC-MS, G-NVR, and TOC.
  • Analyze test results and provide recommendations for optimizing testing methods.
  • Maintain accurate records and document the new testing method.
  • Present project progress in group meetings.
  • You will be involved in one or more of following projects
  • Develop and validate a new method under the direction of a senior scientist and establish a new method for qualitative and quantitative analysis of organic impurities.
  • Build up internal library/database with LC-QToF to increase efficiency on unknown compounds identification.
  • Participate in organic impurities mapping in different solvent to provide valuable information to internal customers for solvent picking.
  • Developing TOC method for corrosive solvent used in Semiconductor production.

What We Seek:

  • Hands-on experience working in a chemistry laboratory.
  • Experience handling chemicals, operating laboratory instrumentation, and generating, analyzing, and interpreting experimental data.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced laboratory environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong motivation to learn and develop new technical skills.
  • Foundational knowledge of organic chemistry and organic analytical techniques is preferred.
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation such as GC-MS, LC-MS, and HPLC is preferred.

Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:

Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineer

Junior and senior are preferred.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student
  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June
  • Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program
  • Entegris is not currently hiring candidates for co-ops/internships who will need, now or at any time in the future, Entegris sponsorship through the H1-B lottery.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some laboratory instruments emit flashing lights during operation; therefore, candidates must not have photosensitivity.
  • Candidates must be able to safely lift and carry a 17-pound solvent bottle to chest height. 
  • In the event of an emergency, candidates must be able to evacuate the laboratory independently
