Summary

At Apple, we work every day to craft products that enrich people’s lives. Do you love tackling challenges that no one has solved yet? Join us to help deliver the next generation of Apple's world-leading SoCs. As a member of our dynamic silicon validation group, you will have the rare and rewarding opportunity to ensure the quality and performance of the foundational analog and mixed-signal IP at the heart of our products. This highly visible role places you at the center of cross-functional teams, where your work will directly contribute to products that delight and inspire millions of customers every day.

Description

This role is focused on the hands-on, post-silicon validation and characterization of critical analog and mixed-signal IP, such as PLLs, data converters, and high-speed I/O interfaces. You will develop and execute detailed test plans, automate lab measurements, and analyze data to ensure our circuits meet stringent performance and quality standards. Your findings will directly influence design improvements and contribute to the successful launch of Apple's next-generation SoCs.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize and debug analog and mixed-signal IP on the lab bench to ensure functional and performance specifications are met.
  • Develop comprehensive validation plans and test methodologies based on IP design specifications.
  • Automate lab testing and data analysis using scripting languages like Python to improve efficiency and repeatability.
  • Analyze test results and generate detailed characterization reports to provide feedback to design teams.
  • Perform signal and power integrity (SI/PI) measurements to correlate with pre-silicon simulations.
  • Collaborate with Design, Firmware, and System Hardware teams to root-cause and resolve complex silicon issues.
  • Support Product and Test Engineering teams with the transition from validation to high-volume manufacturing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with standard lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and pattern generators.
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Perl, Tcl) for test automation and data processing.
  • Proven experience developing test plans, building test benches, and performing automated data collection for analog/mixed-signal circuits.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuitry in one or more of the following domains: PLLs, DLLs, Data Converters (ADC/DAC), DDR memory interfaces, or high-speed SerDes.
  • Proficiency in Python for test automation and data analysis.
  • Hands-on lab skills, including soldering and reworking boards for probing and debug.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative in taking ownership of tasks and driving deliverables to completion.
