About the Role

Develop logic and automation to support Applied Materials’ service business growth and data-driven decision-making. Apply machine learning (ML) and large language models (LLMs) with advanced mathematical and statistical methods to solve complex, correlated problems.

We are looking for a curious, creative, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new graduate student to work closely with experienced engineers to explore real-world semiconductor equipment data, develop analytical logic and applications for broader adoption.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Analysis and Automation

  • Analyzing parts performance to develop accurate analysis and forecasting.
  • Developing end-to-end workflow automation to convert manual projects to a digital product. Build a user-friendly interface and create useful visualizations, summary tables, and automated reports.
  • Leverage ML algorithms and LLMs to improve benchmarking and uncover actionable opportunities.

2. Validation and Continuous Improvement

  • Validate outputs against known data and engineering expectations.
  • Propose enhancements to logic, workflow, and application functions.
  • Provide ideas for how the prototype application can be integrated into future production systems.
  • Build knowledge base, enable service innovation and support intelligent fab outcomes.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Python programming, with demonstrated experience in machine learning and LLM technologies. Experience of applying Python to real-world applications is a plus.
  • Solid analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with databases and data modeling concepts.
  • Understanding of statistical concepts. Knowledge of semiconductor equipment or manufacturing is a plus

B.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related STEM fields.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
