Tesla's Aerodynamics & Aeroacoustics team is looking for an exceptional Aeroacoustics Engineer to grow our capabilities and help us accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.  You will be involved in the development of groundbreaking new products from their earliest conception, through to volume production and beyond, delivering world-class comfort and industry leading safety.   The successful candidate will have a proven record of applying deep technical understanding to real world design problems to produce creative, effective and cost-efficient solutions.  You will work dynamically with cross functional partners in Design, Vehicle Engineering and Program Management to meet challenging aeroacoustics targets and redefine what is possible in the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

  • Defining and executing experimental aeroacoustics test programs
  • Building aeroacoustics CFD simulations to understand and visualize key noise sources
  • Working alongside the NVH team to predict interior noise contributions from these
  • Analyzing and documenting test and simulation results; presenting findings
  • Correlating test and simulation data to continuously improve understanding and prediction capabilities
  • Developing novel concepts in CAD to improve noise sources
  • Working alongside designers and engineers to implement these concepts
  • Providing feedback to the Programs team on aeroacoustics attributes and development status

Requirements

  • Knowledge in aerodynamics and acoustics
  • Exposure to aeroacoustics, NVH, or vehicle aerodynamics through internships, projects, or research (design experience is a plus)
  • Interest in experimental testing (wind tunnel or track); hands-on test experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with CFD, including setup and execution of aeroacoustics simulations
  • Ability to work toward dynamic goals with limited supervision
  • Degree in Aerodynamics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience (internships, research, or personal projects)
  • Experience working in HPC environments
  • Experience in scripting in Python, MATLAB, or Bash
  • Familiarity with surface design in CAD, preferably in Catia

Expected Compensation

$87,020 - $185,820/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
