Description and Requirements

Lenovo ISG Firmware Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Advisory Firmware Engineer specializing in UEFI/BIOS development for next-generation server platforms. This role is responsible for firmware feature ownership, platform bring-up, architecture design, hands-on development, and complex issue resolution. The successful candidate will work closely with global engineering teams to deliver high-quality firmware solutions that support Lenovo's server portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Own and deliver UEFI/BIOS features throughout the full development lifecycle, from architecture and design through validation and product release.
Design, develop, debug, and maintain UEFI firmware modules using C and EDK II frameworks.
Lead platform bring-up activities and drive root-cause analysis for complex firmware and system-level issues.
Act as a technical owner for firmware features, ensuring quality, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Collaborate with hardware, validation, operating system, security, and global firmware teams to deliver integrated platform solutions.
Support development across key server technologies including CPU initialization, memory configuration, PCIe, RAS, security, and system management functions.
Drive technical problem-solving and contribute to firmware architecture reviews and design improvements.
Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices, code quality, and development efficiency.

Skills & Experience

Must Have

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
8 to 10 years of firmware or embedded software development experience.
Strong proficiency in C programming with recent hands-on firmware development experience.
Experience developing UEFI/BIOS firmware using EDK II and familiarity with UEFI architecture and specifications.
Experience owning firmware features or modules from development through product release.
Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills in complex hardware-software environments.
Ability to collaborate effectively with global engineering teams in a cross-functional environment.

Good to Have

Experience developing firmware for server platforms.
Knowledge of PCIe, RAS, system initialization, security technologies, or platform management.
Experience with Linux and Windows development and debugging environments.
Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, firmware development tools, and code review practices.
Technical leadership or mentoring experience within firmware development teams.
