Job Title

Advisor, Technical Project Management

Advisor, Technical Project Management

About your role:

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will lead complex, cross-functional technical programs that span engineering, product, infrastructure, and business teams. You will partner with Principal Engineers, architects, and senior stakeholders to drive execution across large-scale initiatives while translating technical complexity into clear delivery plans and business outcomes. Your work will help improve execution discipline, reduce delivery risk, and align architecture, engineering, and operational priorities across the enterprise.

What you'll do:

  • Lead large-scale technical programs across multiple engineering, product, and business organizations, ensuring alignment to strategic objectives, scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with Principal Engineers and technical leaders to participate in architecture and system design discussions, evaluate trade-offs, and challenge assumptions that affect delivery, scale, and resilience.
  • Map and manage complex dependencies, critical paths, and execution risks across software engineering, infrastructure, cloud, data platform, and application programming interface (API) workstreams.
  • Define and drive program governance, including milestone tracking, risk management, issue resolution, change control, and executive reporting across cross-functional teams.
  • Establish and monitor program-level key performance indicators (KPIs), service-level agreement (SLA) metrics, delivery dashboards, and operational measures that improve execution transparency and accountability.
  • Apply Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid delivery frameworks to optimize planning, sprint health, throughput, and delivery predictability across technical teams.
  • Identify technical risks early in the lifecycle, including structural bottlenecks, single points of failure, scalability concerns, or security risks, and drive mitigation planning with stakeholders.
  • Translate technical blockers, architecture decisions, and delivery impacts into clear business context for senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Drive alignment across engineering, product, and executive stakeholders without direct authority, building consensus around technical strategy and execution priorities.
  • Structure ambiguous or evolving business goals into executable technical roadmaps, sequencing plans, and cross-team workstreams.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, technical architecture, or related technical disciplines supporting complex technology environments.
  • 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional technical programs involving multiple engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience engaging in technical architecture discussions across software engineering, cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, infrastructure, data platforms, and APIs.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), release management, and testing frameworks in enterprise delivery environments.
  • Experience identifying and managing technical risks, dependencies, scaling considerations, and execution blockers across large programs.
  • Experience building delivery dashboards, KPIs, milestone tracking, SLA reporting, or similar operational governance measures for technical programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Experience in financial services, payments, or other regulated technology environments.
  • Experience managing external technical partners, vendors, or third-party delivery dependencies.
  • Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent certification.

How you'll work:

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
