Lenovo is seeking an Advisor, AI Ethics to join its Ethics and Compliance organization and AI Ethics function.
This individual will play a critical role in Lenovo's AI Governance framework to help ensure that AI technologies are developed, deployed, and monitored in alignment with Lenovo's AI Policy, ethical principles, and regulatory requirements.
The Advisor will independently conduct AI Ethics reviews and serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional teams across the business. The role will have a primary focus on consumer-facing AI products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and document AI Ethics reviews of new and existing AI projects across Lenovo.
- Apply AI evaluation, assessment, testing, red-teaming, and assurance methods to identify and assess ethical risks and potential harms, including unfair treatment and risks related to transparency, safety, misuse, and human oversight.
- Support continuous improvement of AI Ethics review processes, documentation protocols, tools, and review criteria.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global AI regulations, guidance, industry standards, evaluation methods, and emerging AI risks.
- Collaborate with business units and technical teams to ensure alignment with Lenovo’s AI Policy and Responsible AI principles throughout the product lifecycle.
- Serve as an advisor to product and business teams and provide sustained support to an assigned portfolio of consumer-facing AI products.
- Partner closely with the Inclusive Product Design Office to support reviews and continuous improvement of relevant frameworks.
- Develop and deliver internal training and awareness programs on Responsible AI by design practices.
- Promote a culture of responsible innovation by championing AI Ethics across Lenovo.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in human-computer interaction, science and technology studies, information studies, sociology, cognitive science, data science, law, public policy, philosophy, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience in Responsible AI, AI Ethics, AI assurance, technology risk, Trust and Safety, compliance, consulting, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience conducting AI reviews, evaluations, assessments, red teaming, testing, or related assurance activities involving AI systems.
- Ability to apply systems thinking and sociotechnical approaches to assess AI systems in real-world product and organizational contexts.
- Strong understanding of risks associated with generative and agentic AI capabilities, particularly in consumer-facing contexts.
- Strong understanding of Responsible AI principles and emerging global AI regulatory and standards frameworks.
- Experience working within or advising large, complex organizations and navigating cross-functional stakeholder environments.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and drive initiatives across global, cross-functional teams.
- IAPP Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) certification.
- Direct experience evaluating consumer-facing AI products, including those with generative or agentic capabilities.
- Experience with Trust and Safety, AI safety, product safety, or misuse and abuse risk.
- Technical fluency in AI and machine-learning concepts, including generative and agentic AI capabilities and common risks in AI deployment.
- Experience working in an in-house technology, consulting, governance, compliance, or Responsible AI environment.
- Demonstrated engagement with professional, research, or practitioner communities focused on Responsible AI, AI Ethics, AI safety, Trust and Safety, or AI assurance.
