As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a highly motivated Technical Program Manager focused on Data Center Network Infrastructure Construction, you will leverage your experience and technical expertise to lead complex projects with numerous cross-functional teams. You plan requirements with internal customers and external partners to usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes working with customers to develop project scopes, managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. Your project teams can span offices, time zones and hemispheres, and it's your job to keep all the stakeholders coordinated and informed on the project's progress and schedule. Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs. You will have experience managing large scale technical projects in a rapidly changing industry, being able to tolerate ambiguity and demonstrate problem-solving leadership with limited oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Support cross-functional partner teams and site-based execution teams through Subject Matter Expert (SME) technical guidance, and serve as a regional liaison for program management team.
  • Be in partnership with internal and external teams, help develop and socialize processes and procedures to enable the team to operate efficiently with consistent results.
  • Be responsible for gathering internal requirements and delivering solutions that satisfy customers needs.
  • Resolve highly critical issues within matrix organization while maintaining rigorous adherence to project timelines and costs.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in managing vendor relationships and an understanding of standard practices in the design/construction industry.
  • Experience in requirements gathering, resource organization, task prioritization, scheduling, and achieving objectives on schedule and within budget.
  • Project or construction management experience with network infrastructure (i.e. fiber optic cabling, cable tray, racks, etc.).
  • Extensive experience working in data centers or similar mission critical environments where work involves impact to core functionalities and is governed with formal change control processes.
  • Understanding of large-scale facility electrical and mechanical systems relative to network infrastructure.
