We are looking for someone who is passionate about working hands-on with both internal and external teams to deliver impactful Fleet and Scale software solutions that are critical to Data Center customers. You will be part of a team responsible for developing Customer Fleet and Scale capabilities that enable high-quality Intel server product launches and improve in-fleet customer experience. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, results-oriented, and comfortable operating in a dynamic environment.
As a Power and Thermal Software Engineer, you will play a key role in developing customer fleet health software capabilities for Intel server products. The position focuses on the development, validation, maintenance, and debugging of platform-level power, thermal stress, and telemetry software. You will work closely with hardware engineering, power design engineering, and platform validation teams throughout the server product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain power diagnostic and thermal analysis software to ensure optimal Intel server performance.
- Define, develop, and drive critical power and thermal stress workloads across platforms and software.
- Develop, measure, analyze, and debug workloads to identify and mitigate power and performance gaps.
- Extend system-level power delivery workload capabilities, including power-up and power-down analysis.
- Collaborate with customer-facing engineering teams to reproduce and debug power and thermal issues.
- Assess the impact of functional defects on performance and work with IP, SoC, and software engineering teams to drive improvements.
- Integrate software libraries and components into existing software programs and tools.
- Develop innovative thermal and power workload solutions supporting TDP/nTDP validation, Pmax, and Turbo verification.
- Drive workload development targeting High-Speed Link I/O, including: UPI interconnects, DDR memory interfaces, PCIe/CXL interfaces, Screen and stress memory subsystems.
- Fine-tune register settings, optimize software data paths, and perform telemetry analysis.
- Perform platform-level debugging to identify root causes and resolve functional and triage failures related to power and thermal behavior.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate should bring a combination of:
- Software engineering expertise in C/C++ and Python.
- Deep understanding of server platform architecture.
- Experience in power, thermal, performance, and telemetry domains.
- Hardware/software debug and validation skills.
- Customer-focused engineering mindset.
- Operate across architecture, platform, validation, and customer enablement teams.
- Experience working on large-scale Data Center and Xeon server solutions.
This position is a fixed-term opportunity lasting approximately 24 months.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience in:
- Hardware validation or hardware test development experience.
- Software development experience.
- C/C++ and Python development and debugging experience.
- Multithreaded software development experience.
- Advance English level.
- Must have unrestricted, permanent right to work in Mexico (this role is not eligible for visa or immigration sponsorship).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with x86 assembly language development and debugging.
- Knowledge of Intel Xeon architecture, including platform and Un-Core architecture.
- Understanding of Linux and Windows internals, drivers, and runtime environments.
- Experience using Xeon performance monitoring tools and hardware instrumentation.
- Familiarity with customer power and thermal validation methodologies and debug workflows.
